  1. Hi Alan and Phil, thanks for the info, will order two Skyhawk Kits. Always remember if you are ever in Australia you must come to Norfolk Island and slope soar with us. Stay safe Dallas
  2. Hi Phil, have been watching your blog with great interest. My F-86 is ready for covering but have been side tracked on a few other projects. Are the F-86 T-shirts still available? Recently I showed a friend your 2016 Skyhawk blog and he was wondering if the full short kit is still available? Still hope to catch up with all the PSS flyers at The Great Orme. Keep safe Dallas
  3. Hi Skip, Great to see another Aussie based builder? My F-86 is just waiting covering, have been looking at the Black Diamond's colour scheme, so many to choose from. I found all the blogs very informative and they all have a vast array of knowledge. Dallas
  4. Hi Phil Top idea, will also copy Dirk's painting and sanding jig. Stay safe, Dallas
  5. Hi Dirk Fantastic that you have put Norfolk Island on your bucket list, would be a pleasure to show you around Norfolk Is. There are only two of us who regularly slope soar on the Island and we mainly fly foam wings as landings on the Island can be fun. For the past few years a group of model flyers for Brisbane Australia have come to Norfolk for a very low key fly-in, it is called the Allen Danvers Challenge. If you search Tingalpa Model Aero Club then click on Photo Galleries then click on Allen Danvers Challenge 26 Oct 2019 it will show the modelers from Australia. Your F-86 looks great.top work will keep working on mine it is really my first serious attempt at PSS. Keep in touch Dallas Crisp
  6. Hi Martin, Peter, Andy, Phil Thank you for all your feedback, great advice. Will chase up the West System 105 and do some practice runs before I try to apply it to my F-86. Will let you know how I get on. Remember if you are ever in the Southern Hemisphere you have to come slope soaring with us, Norfolk Island is truly a most beautiful Island. Thank you all for your time keep safe Dallas Crisp
  7. Hi Phil Thank you for your reply. Attending a fly -in at the Orme is an event that I have always wanted to be involved in, but this coronavirus has a mind of its own. Have only used glass cloth once before and the resin I used had the consistency of honey , thus resulting in the model being too heavy, maybe my technique!! Fellow modelers told me that I should have thinned the resin with metho or denatured alcohol. I queried the suppliers on thinning their resin and they strongly warned me against this. Phil how would you describe the consistency of your skinning resin? Is it thinner than normal resin used in boat building? Glassing models is not one of my strong points. Have searched Australian Hobby Stores for Skinning Resin with no luck. Again thank you for your time Dallas Crisp
  8. Hi Phil Just a quick question, do you thin your skinning resin? Have bought the glass cloth as you recommended but Fighter Aces thought that the resin may not make it to Australia. Wish I could make it for the September Fly In, but that will not happen, maybe next year. It is great to see all the blogs on the F-86. Thanks Dallas Crisp
  9. Hi Martin Thank you for your reply, I will order a magnetic switch from your link. It just shows that the old saying is true, that you are never too old to learn. My wife and I spend six months of the year on a small island (Norfolk Island )about thousand miles off the east coast of Australia, this is where I do all my slope soaring. There are only two of us that regularly slope soar. It is a beautiful island and home to the descendants of the Mutineers from the Bounty. If you ever have a chance to visit we would love to take you slope soaring, and be assured that the Mutineers will not set you adrift in a boat. Again thank you for your time Dallas Crisp
  10. Hi Martin Your building blog has been of great help, however I am in need of a little advice. As my F-86 will soon be ready for covering I have decided to go with glass cloth, could you please tell me the date of the RCM&E that contained that article. Also I have never used or heard of a magnetic switch, Peter has given a link for these so I will give one a go. Any advice on using or installing one, would be appreciated. I believe that you have set up your F-86 with 0 incidence on your wing and tailplane, have you been able to test fly your plane with these settings? Looking forward to joining in on one of your PSS events next year, will hopefully bring along my F-86. Thank you for your advice and time, Dallas Crisp Brisbane Australia.
  11. Hi Phil Have just added the tail cone to my F-86 also, and have noticed that when sanding and shaping the fus around the tail cone and nose cone that I will require some filler. What is the best filler to use? I am a little worried that the planking has become a little thin in a few spots, my planking may not be the best!!! What finish will you be applying to your fus? Is fibre glass an option? All the best, thanks Dallas
  12. Hi Thanks for all the info and input, much appreciated. PSS building is relatively new to me. Looking forward to the fly in on the 13th. Hope the corona virus does not impact on peoples travel plans. My wife and I are in our late sixties and will be travelling up from Australia. Again thanks.
  13. Hi Phil I was going to use Hitec HS-85MG+ servos for my ailerons and elevator, ( which I have four of) but I noticed you are using HS-65MG+. Could you please advise as I am not sure what to use, again thank you for your time.
  14. Hi Phil Looks like your lower main wing spar is laminated, I am about to construct mine. Cannot see in your thread what you used, could you please give some recommendation. I have never been able to obtain spruce around the local hobby shops. Thanks.
