Greetings from sunny Western Australia I built this kit some years ago and fitted a Graupner 600 brushed motor, 8 x 4 prop, and 7.2 nicads. It flew reasonably well for four flights, but decided to nose dive from about 10 feet, and crushed the front of the engine mount As I had a spare OS 20 I converted to I.C. with the spare bits in the kit. Boy, did it transform to a pylon racer! I flew it a couple of times, but decided to go back to electric. I made up a motor mount box attached to front former E13, using an FSD 28-35 outrunner, with 9 x 4.7 prop, and 3S 1500 battery I have not flown it yet, but I am sure the setup will work O.K. It needs a hatch to get at the battery tho, as it is a pain to take off the wing every time I chose the colour scheme as suggested in the kit, with black/white undersides, this is easy to see in the sky

I, too, have a collection of Cox engines.from 020 tee dee to the 09 tee dee 'The only problems have been in theplastic carbi venturis cracking on the tee dees - these parts are now no longer available in Australia - but I have found stocks on the internet at MECOA and Cox engines in the USA I have used 049 Black widow and Texaco to power 2 metre gliders on power pods and am building 1/2 texaco Stardust Special for local competition These little engines certainly have the power. I normally run with 20% nitro Good to see that not everybody has gone electric Regards, Gary Eyre, Quairading, Western Australia

I read with interest the article on Black Horse Twister. I bought one a few years ago to be able to use my Saito 45 4 stroke - which fitted o.k. on existing engine mount. I had to put lead in the tail to get C of G correct and fitted the spats for the 1st flights. quite happy with performance - altho found it twitchy when looping on full rates - was happier doing big loops on low rates One spat and wheel fell off in flight - made for interesting landing! I found the items after 30 mins search - and decided to remove the other spat. I had to strengthen the UC mounting after a bouncy landing took the UC off - have not had any further problems The Twister is still flying I thank it is good value for money Gary Eyre, Quairading, Western Australia Cheers!

Litespan Lowdown
Gary Eyre replied to Pat (rActive) Harbord's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Gday to everyone from Quairading, Western Australia I have finally finished building a Tomboy from a plan, and have covered it using Litespan. Very pleased with the outcome, having followed your article on preparing. Very helpful, thanks. The model weighs 16oz, powered by MP Jet 040 , .6 diesel, with micro servos on rudder and elevator. Very nice flyer. Ether is hard to obtain here, and local shops do not sell pre-mixed diesel fuel anymore. Have to call on the boys in the big smoke who still fly diesels. Keep up the good articles, Gary Eyre -
Gday all ,from sunny Western Ausralia. I have been reading with interest the types of vehicles used to carry your models - some of which are not used here. I have a Hyundai Accent 5 door - very roomy as t he rear seats fold flat like a station wagon - also economical on fuel (very expensive - $1.52 per litre!) Happy flying, I enjoy RCM&E , and look forward to each free plan. Gary Eyre, Quairading, Western Australia

Hi guys, I have reading with interest your reviews on these litle choppers. I live in West Australia, in a small country wheatbelt town, about 100 miles east of Perth I have a similar toy called a Rider which performs well indoors, and outdoors in the shade in the afternoon (whenthere is no wind) I bought another chopper from Crazy Clarks department store in Perth, but this one will not even lift off - it seems the motor has no revs - as this was half theprice of the other one - $25 Aust. I guess you get what you pay for. I enjoy reading your reports from across the other side of the world Bye from sunny West Australia!
