  1. Welcome back and I am sure you will enjoy the forum.
  2. The problem with Electric power is that there are so many variables. So the way to simplify is to make some fixed (not really fixed but just a stake in the ground) decisions to start with. As Tim says start with a decision on what sort of prop size you want and work from there. Another option is to start with the battery and work towards the prop. If while you are doing your calculation it is just not working out, say the current is just too high, then try and start from a different fixed point.
  3. Hi Huggy you discovered the best bit of RCM&E. The forum
  4. Welcome Max. Looking forward to hearing your story.
  5. Eflite  stuff comes from Horizon Hobbies I think so it would be worth contacting them regarding this problem. Usually the provide outstanding service in such situations.
  6. I totally agree. Wing bands is the only way to go.
  7.   Interesting article on the Skylon. What do you think the wing loading would be like.Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 21/09/2010 15:46:01 Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 21/09/2010 15:47:36 Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 21/09/2010 15:48:05
  8. BEB I for one really appreciate the time you have taken to post on this subject. I have no knowledge whatsoever about CE marking but what you say makes complete sense to me. I think one important point to make (again?)  is that a CE mark is no guarantee of a correctly functioning or quality product, just that it conforms to some basic standards.
  9. Richard,  JayCee asked about the prop you are using and I can't see that you have responded. If you are using a bigger prop than standard this will explain the problems you are seeing.
  10. I have used Sheffield before and I am sure they only deal in large quantities for the building industry. I think 8'X4' sheet would be the minimum they deal in.
  11. The only other option I can think of is to find a local building site and talk to the foreman/site manager there. There are usually offcuts which get skipped, its just a matter of being there at the right time assuming they are using the stuff you want.
  12. I can fully understand why people would do this and it sounds attractive to the analytical part of me but my practical side always finds something more interesting to do right now and my analytical side never gets the data it needs to function properly.
  13. We messy buggers should form a club........... No that would never work it would just be a disorganised mess.
  14. Yes RW I love the bricks that was an great idea. Here is my charging station...    Not quite as smart as yours but it works for me even though it drives me insane being so messy. I wish I could be a tidy person. Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 19/09/2010 10:04:10
  15. Sorry Romeo Whisky but I did laugh at the welding gloves and wire cutters. Perhaps it just my sense of humor? As I said above I just plonk them on the bench and charge them paying particular attention to the charger setting and making sure the cables can't short out.
  16. Try this thread which asked a similar question and has some of the answers.
  17. I charge mine on the wooden bench in my attached garage. Never had a problem. But do make sure your charger is set up correctly for your lipo.
  18. All the garages I know will not sell less than 5L at a time.
  19. If it's capable of charging 4s Lipo then it will charge your 4s2p just fine.
  20. It's a shame you can't get the thrust figures to go with those power measurements. Would be interesting to see how much more thrust you get for all that extra power?Edited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 08/09/2010 17:32:56
