1. Hi Paul,  The Wot 4 is pretty forgiving about float design and size, you could probably cut your own from foam and get away with a few mistakes.  Try contacting the company linked below, they may export to this country, or if you can cut your own try the pdf link http://www.seaplanesupply.com/chuckcu.pdf http://seaplanesupply.com/index.htm Good luck
2. Learn to land you, too much time catching those silly profile models

4. If you want a big extra for the 1.80 you could do a lot worse than the H9 27%.   Mine is powered by a 2.1 and has oodles of power(when the sodding thing runs right).  It is designed for 3d, but if you leave out the big control movements it flies a pretty darn good straight line too
5. I had a cheap ARTF Giles, think it was a company called phoenix, and the first thing that struck me was that the wings were 10" longer than advertised.  At that point I should have left it, but I wanted a plane so parted with the £110 and left.  Well, the wood was that cheap "balsa but not balsa" stuff, the covering was sticky backed plastic, and the fibreglass parts were so thin you could read through them.  Eventually got it to the field, and it wouldn't take off.  Just wouldnt leave the ground.  Tried every trick in the book and even threw it, but it just sank straight back to the ground at a high rate of descent.  On the scales at home, we found out why, a 62" span aircraft that weighed over 5lbs EMPTY!!!!  Stuck a 61 in it, and it just got airborne, but the ailerons were so twitchy that it was stalling and flicking everywhere, swapped it for a VMAR Extra 300, and to say that that was an improvement should surely say how truly awful it was
6. aye, 'twould be fun to dive bomb the goldfish with one of these, I'll be on the list
7. this could be fun to chase the cat with
8. Took the wee edge out yesterday, was -2 so left it in the car until just before I flew it, even then by the time I'd connected up the batt and got to the runway the canopy had misted over.  Vertical performance was down, wouldn't pull from a hover, and duration was down to around 5mins(33% reduction).  I'm sticking to I.C. in the winter from now on
9. Go to halfords for a can of tail-light tint spray that the wacky(boy) racers use
10. It has been known for west 50T1 to be used in clipped wing cougars, so I wouldnt worry too much.  As long as you keep full throttle for verticals(upwards!) and as steve says fit a low pitch prop you'll be fine.  Then go kick ass in those climb n glides
11. I've used one with a TT42 as a windy weather hack for years, and once its off the ground its superb.  Don't know how the equipment was moved around as its 2nd hand, but it does HUGE great big loops and still glides well with the motor off.  In fact if you take most of the dihedral out of the wing its possible to push it through the Standard class pattern schedule
12.
Alternatively, more reports from small local club fly-in events and the like, then we get to see what other club modellers are actually doing /flying, rather than just the big, hugely expensive, and mainly impractical beauties that dominate the big shows
Perhaps a column where clubs could send in details and a few pics of their fly-in, the qualifier being that it was advertised in the mags calendar section prior?
13. I shouldn't be so vain, looking in the mirror when handlaunching You know, I'm sure I was left-handed this morning, must be afternoon It's one of those new fancy trannies with yo-yo function The tx/model juggling duo was destined for failure Ha, gotcha, theres a vertical trampoline out of shot that pings it straight back to me New methods of testing wind strength discovered, results non-conclusive as models performance post-test is not quoted
14. I feel old now, what with my fairy liquid and cut up old t-shirts LOL, need to invest in some modern cleaning technology
15. No problem, glad you got sorted
16. Most still prefer wood/composite/polystyrene combinations for much over shocky sizes, but one or two do dabble, one of the 3drc guys built a 2m capiche that weighed about 3lbs all up.  Also with the advantages EPP has in crashability depron is kinda playing catch up.  It is easy to work with, cheap and good to experiment with, and if it goes wrong try something new, but I think its always going to be a 3rd choice material
17. test flight on my extra showed up two glitches which both sent the model to the right on ailerons only, have now moved the aerial to the top of the fuse, away from the servo cables and hopefilly that is going to cure it.  If I have any developments that might help I'll keep you posted
18. Erfolg, email me your postal address and I'll send you my spares
19. If you're looking for scale aerobatic performance can I recommend the Fliton/X-tech Extra, it's in the size range you want and a more than capable performer.  With the 46 it won't perform 3d, but it has the capability to withstand a larger engine should you free up some cash later on.  Also consider the Cap232 58" from glens models, a little snappy if tail heavy but almost certainly the best you'll get from that engine  If you really wana punch holes in the sky then try the Thunder Tiger Giles 202-40, still available from elation models for about £90 and a cracking wee plane
20. Agree on the basis that her shoe/dress collection is partially filtered to the loft also
21. is it poss to move the Rx further away from the motors?
