It looked a bit weird on my ipad2 yesterday as there was a space at the top and down the right hand side of the screen but seems fine now. Overall, I like the new look.

Is your Failsafe set ( 2.4 users only )
Doug Ireland replied to Baz Lewis's topic in General Radio Discussion
I nearly got caught out by my system going full throttle once. Luckily I was still at the setting up the linkages stage so nothing nasty happened. Since then I've always rebound the RX after any changes. I only fly IC. Edited By Doug Ireland on 25/06/2013 02:23:48 -
I spend a lot of time building from plans either for myself or others as I do get a lot of pleasure out of it and the Long Haired One is a dab-hand at sanding stacks of wing ribs! I fly whenever I can but as I prefer to fly alone its not as often as I'd like.

Nice one! I like the covering on the wings too.

Which circuit direction do you fly the most?
Doug Ireland replied to David Ashby - Moderator's topic in Model Flying Polls
Because of a line of trees where I fly circuits are left hand in an Easterly headwind and opposite for westerlys. -

Mine arrived this morning and after a quick inventory of the wood pile I think I might build Peter Miller's new model.

As they say, it was fun while it lasted! -
I know there are a lot of smart people out there so maybe someone can help. I recently noticed that when I read someone's post in the forum some words are underlined and are not links put there by the author. When I hover the pointer over the word a pop-up with something like "win and iPad" appears. It doesn't just happen with this site but I've also noticed when I try to print the Daily Telegraph cryptic crossword every day. The random underlined words are a real distraction when trying to work out the clue! i am running XP Pro and IE8. Changing the browser to something is not an option as its a company laptop. Any ideas how I can block these underlines?

Got mine too! Time for a quiet read in the pub

I have an X-Type estate that can carry just about everything I need with a bit of comfort thrown in. Oh and Myron, a friend of mine from Argentina told me what the word means! When the Triumph motor company tried to market their Acclaim model in Germany they had to change the name because of the literal translation of the name.

The 16x48x3/4" board from Great Planes (available from SMC) are a bit pricey but are well worth the money.

I have been following this thread with some interest and am glad to see there is a positive outcome to it. SC engines are my favourite of the OS clones and I have bought a lot of them over the years, four-strokes mainly, and I haven't had a bad one yet. As they say: "It does exactly what it says on the tin"!

When do you use exponential?
Doug Ireland replied to David Ashby - Moderator's topic in Model Flying Polls
In my opinion it's probably the best development in proportional control. -
Flying crop sprayers was the most fun I've had with my clothes on! In my present job i travel a lot and im a nervous commercial passenger! I wonder if the guy up front has had his "eight hours from bottle to throttle" or if he had a row with his missus the night before and wants to end it all!

I'm surprised the prop didn't feather when the oil pressure dropped? -
At a guess it sounds like it was a fusible link and was doing what it was supposed to do when something else in the discharge circuit failed. It's probably not worth trying to repair it.

How do you cut Spruce sheet
Doug Ireland replied to Erfolg's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
I have a circular saw attachment for my Dremel that will cut 1/4" ply with ease, should work fine with your thinner wood Erfolg. -
December 2012 issue feedback
Doug Ireland replied to David Ashby - Moderator's topic in RCM&E Magazine
I was reading the article about engine cooling fro the WOO and something he said (on page 73) had me scratching my head. He said that "many full-size aircraft have liquid cooled engines", but for the life of me I can't think of any GA aircraft that have them? Everything that springs to mind have either flat four or six air-cooled donks. Apart from that it was a very informative article. -
