  1. Hi all, Just come across this excellent thread and am now totally inspired to finish my Moth. Started the build almost 3 years ago! I had a build thread at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472417 . Building mine as a Genet Moth - not many built as the radial engine wasn't up to much I think! Anyway, the RAF used it for a while in a display team. Going for a mild amount of detail ie. dummy radial engine, closed loops, rib stitching & tapes. Sig Koverall & spray finish in mind -when I get there!     Looking forward to another DB kit soon, artf are great but no substitute for the satisfaction of building!
  2. Yeah, go for it! Been building a Gypsy Moth from them for past 2 yrs. Not that it's a slow build, but lots of other projs have come in between. Kit qualilty is great, and their support on email or phone was great when I had a minor query.  It' s really good fun to build - I don't think it will die  out as some predict with the rise of the artf!  Simon.
  3. I know some good standard pilots swear by moving the tank mounting back to over the cg - neutral effect then as the tank empties. I don't know if this means you need a pump though - would be longer fuel pipes. Personally I agree with the above and always balance with an empty tank, although I have found I'm pushing the CG back as my flying gets better! Cheers
  4. I guess that depends how good your finish is. I'm going for Poly-C brushed on to fill the weave a bit, then a spray coat of paint.
  5. Hi, I'm building the DB Gypsy Moth. After much head scratching I went for Sig Koverall. This is a med-weight material (nylon?) which you can affix by any means you like, then heat-shrink. I'm going to use Balsaloc heat activated glue. Reason was I want to add some rib stitching/tapes, and a sprayed finish. Tex was in the running but would have cost a fair bit more. Will post some pics when it's finished (but dont hold your breath - it's been almost 2 years so far!) Simon.
  6. check out http://www.rcpilotguide.com/ Very clear book, covers everything from solo, basic aeros, pattern & 3D. I ordered a copy direct from the states and it arrived in about 4 days!! Also I'd second the above comment re. www.3drc.info - brilliant bunch, very enthusiastic & great flyers. Simon
