Andy, I built this one many years ago,a great flier, its test flight was at the hands of the late Brian Park who was chairman of the Blyth club. I hope our fellow modellers South of the Tyne know what Clagged means, being a member of the Cramlington club i know what it means. Jim

Jim Check out Vortex vac forms,Steve davis does a fair range of canopies and you may find something suitable an alternative is J Perkins web site, just tap canopy into the search box and see what comes up. If you find a suitable canopy from Perkins you will have to order it through your local model shop as they do deal with us lesser mortals. As Simon says, find a suitable pop bottle as last resort. I use Production paper, the type used by car body repair shops,it lasts a long time and doesn't clog up as easily as glass paper. For finishing i use wet/dry paper . Any grooves can be filled with Wilkinsons interior filler,a lightweight water based filler that sands like a dream and dries White. Jim

Tony I have the Flair 1/4 scale Tiger moth,it flies like a dream on OS 120 fs turning 18 x 6 prop. The Ailerons are set to the recommended throws in the manual and have a huge amount of differential movement that gives 2" up and 1/2" down,it looks odd but it works. It turns a treat on Aileron and elevator alone with no yaw evident and it lands so slowly its just like a butterfly with sore feet. Jim

Covering advice please.
Jimbo565 replied to Barry Slater's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Barry I think a vintage model like the Demon should be done in Solartex or traditionally with Nylon and dope. I have just started a Mercury 3 8' span vintage job and it will be covered in antique solartex. Regards Jim -
Peter The original and the big one

Old time Scorpion plans
Jimbo565 replied to Matt Brewster's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Matt I have the plans for the 66" Super Scorpion, free flighter with lovely tapered eliptical wings. A great flier,i had os 30 power in mine but i feel a 30 fs would be just the job. If i can help just let me Know Regards Jim -
Damien I should have said tip of the rudder and not the fin. Jim
-
Damien, This was my first venture into radio control flying,i built this model over 20 yrs. ago and its a great flyer,I powered mine with an Enya 60 fs. If you look at the the tip of the fin you will see its not true scale, the moth has a rounded fin. I hope the photo comes out ok JIm

Suggestions for a kit for OS 15
Jimbo565 replied to Andy Freeman's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Just used spars and guess work,it certainly looks odd to see a Super doing a roll,we've had some fine weather this last week ideal for vintage stuff. I have just received the plans for Mercury 3 a 96" free flighter modded for radio and this will be the winter project,i'll need half a rain forrest to supply the wood for the build . Jim -
Suggestions for a kit for OS 15
Jimbo565 replied to Andy Freeman's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Steve MIni Super had test flight last nite, dead calm conditions and she flew like a dream with the new aileron / flap wing Ailerons are very effective with no sign of adverse yaw , slight pich up when flaps are deployed. I'm delighted. Cheers Jim -

Sloper This is my method, get a roll of old wallpaper and cut it to the length of your fuz. then using carbon paper trace the fuz outline onto the back of the wallpaper, cut it out and draw round the paper template onto your balsa sheet and there you have it. Jim
