  1. A guy took 2 stuffed dogs to the 'Antiques Road show'.   "Ooh!" said the presenter, "This is a very rare set, produced by the celebrated Johns Brothers taxidermists who operated in London at the turn of last century. Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?" "...Sticks?" came the reply. Edited By Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 06/02/2013 10:20:11
  2. Thanks so much for the input...I'm still learning As a result of more research... Light Blue solartex should match with lux blue solarlac Blue solartex should match with Ocean blue solarlac Can someone check if they off cuts please white solarlac for lines Paint over white solartex then seal with 2-3 of clearcote then vinyl transfers Sound like a reasonable plan??   Edited By cymaz on 05/02/2013 15:27:01
  3. Thanks Phoned Solartex...very helpful thanks to Andrew(???) up there. He even looked at the mixing charts. He wasn't sure because they use an ultra marine pigment. So what masking tape should I use?? Or free hand
  4. If anyone has looked I posted on scale matters "does anyone know this kit". Well I am quickly coming to the conclusion that it will need a total recover job. The problen is I would like to replicate the colours already on the plane. If I use natural Solatex could I then use paints that Homebase could mix up to get the correct shade. Then cover with what varnish or Clearcoat? I could use blue and light blue solartex ( not an exact match) and hand paint the white stripes. However Solarfilm don't have a correct shade match for the blue. Oddly they do for the light blue 'tex. Could someone try and give me a step by step answer of how to paint onto natural Solartex. Would the Homebase paint method be the best although would using Clearcoat cause crazing? I know its alot to ask but I only have one shot at getting it right. Thanks
  5. Been told that it should be in Rothmans livery ( Pyramid Models Decals) by SWMBO. So now what Flair paint colours to use??. And its to have a tiger moth tail to make it as near as a T.M. as I can get   Anyone now got a plan for a TIger Moth 1/4 scale rudder that they could print off and send me Edited By cymaz on 04/02/2013 10:52:49
  6. Oh yes thanks Pete, I'm building the Old Precedent Kit at the moment. This Rothmans Stampe was a purchased in a moment of weakness. Jim, after doing some internet work the Svenson kit looked like it was a full canopy Stampe variant. The covering might all have to be stripped off and everything taken right back to the bone. Then a new scheme applied....any ideas (not rothmans)
  7. Cheers Jim...first out of the blocks. I'll look it up.
  8. Its definately a stampe and its at least 20 years old by the looks of it. Its not laser cut parts. 82" span and seperate wing halves top and bottom joined by hard wood rails that slide into pockets in the wings. Sprung undercarriage with scale closed loop and scale stampe elevator horn at rear. Litho cowl with scale latched doors. There are 2 seperate lower wing servos, one in each wing half, that use push rods and cranks to drive the ailerons. The top ailerons are connected bypush rods. The top wing halves use hardwood rails and pockets that just slide into the centre section .There is no means of securing them- they are reliant on the sturts and rigging wires. More photos will be posted if I have whetted anyones appetite for a guess! No prizes but I really would be interested if anyone remembers please Edited By cymaz on 04/02/2013 08:35:38

  12. See what I do.... planes in the bottom wings on top. The foam wrapped piece of timber is a God send. I get more in this car than I could an Escort van.
