Balance charging 3S lipos in parallel
Robert Bromwich replied to winchweight's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
HI Shaun If im reading this right then you have got both the reds and blacks (main power cables) soldered together to give you 11.1v 3s still ? then you are charging using just one 3s balancer lead to one of the batterys? the problem with that is your only balancing one battery as the power to charge the other is going down the power leads ! What you need to do is disconnect the power leads and use or make a 6s balancer lead using 2 x 3s leads this will charge both at the same time as a 6s battery and balance both the same. You can then connect them back together as 2 x 3cells Rob -

Hi Tony I've finished building the Typhoon and at the stage of spraying, my question is did you thin the spetrum paints and if you did what % to thinner did you use also what do you use to clean the spray out with !! I have the prymol, paints and thinners but as i havent used them before thought i would ask first. oh and what clear coating did you use matt or gloss? Rob -

Hi I worked as a postman for 9 years i only left to become a electrical technican, the job was great but i was working in the best delivery office in the country at the time Deeside and it still is i know i have two friends who work there still. The thing is most people only see what they want to they forget that the postoffice handles about 120 million items a day and 98% get there next day, how many other companys could handle that many the answer is none !!. I know thats what they do so they should be perfect but no company/person is perfect they are only as good as there workforce which is one of the largest at 160,000 delivery people (not including sorting and office staff) To me its the companys who send it out there the ones that take there time !! Robin , thats called 'commando' when they just leave a card without knocking, but most of the time thats the other parcel companys. how do i know i have had it done and when i ring them i heard someone on the phone saying it (they didnt think i heard them) . Warped wings (and other Qs)
Robert Bromwich replied to Sloper's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Hi Sloper I Guess the wings are balsa sheets covering wing ribs ?? If they are and it was me i would cut the sheeting off the warped wing see if this helps if not i would cut out the ribs, trailing and leading edges until the warp is out then reglue and resheet it. i know this sounds alot of work but its better to find the warp and correct it. also it shouldnt take you that long maybe a few days then you know for sure you will have a nice straight and true set of wings By the picture looks like there is a rod or strip to locate the wings and the eyelet to me looks like you rubber band the wings together in the body of the plane but of course i havent seen what the body looks like so this couldnt help ?? HI john The AR6200 is a full range receiver, BRC recommend by themselfs not to use it beyond 1000ft of cousre they have done there own tests on all of the rx's they have The AR7000 is full range as well but this is line of site I use the AR6200 for smaller planes something like the ripmax spitfire and helicopters but for my larger planes and my i.c ones its the AR7000 all the way, for about £10 extra its not worth losing your model Rob

Hi Darrel look at your rear stablizers (elevator fin) check to see if it is straight with the wing e.g measure wing tip to elevator tip to make sure its the same then check its level to the main wing to check this look at the back of the plane at the elevator fin tips and see if they look level to the wing i had a gws corsair that did that when i first started flying and it was the elevator fin wasnt straight to the wing would take off and flip left no control Rob

Formula for flight times
Robert Bromwich replied to Paul Williams's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
HI Paul with a Watt meter test fullpower ampere then use this: Amp draw at full power / 60 (which is minutes) = amp used in 1 minute Then use battery amp / amp used in minute = flight time Eg: 2.2 amp battery 35amp power draw from motor so : (power draw)35 / 60minutes = 0.583 milliamp per minute (battery size)2.2 / 0.583 (milliamp per min) = 3.7 minutes fullpower another one: 3.7 amp battery 24 amp powerdraw so: 24 / 60 = 0.400 then 3.7 / 0.400 = 9.25 minutes hope this helps Rob -
The October Grand Prize Draw
Robert Bromwich replied to David Ashby - Moderator's topic in All Things Model Flying
maybe this time -
HI If your after the affect then a wooden prop is fine i use them on some of my electric planes, i have one on the flair attila and that one i had to cut down to get the right amp draw. It works great ive had about 50 flights at the moment no problems Sorry about the mess behind i was moving my stuff into the new room i had just finished Rob

Plane,motor,esc,servos,batt £150 ?
Robert Bromwich replied to Craig Spence's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
HI Craig Try BRC Hobbies Plane Multiplex Easycub 55.1" wingspan (brc108) price £57.50 Combo motor 2814-8t/esc 33a (brc565) price £35.99 4 micro 9g brc HT servos (brc690) price £14.99 Himodel lipo 2.2a 3s 25c (brc616) price £34.99 Total Excluding p+p is £143.47 so under your £150 total So with p+p going to be just over i would think Rob -
Hi John I have had a good look around the net for the specs on this helicopter and of course have found them It has a 25a ESC so if you are running say a 2.2amp 11.1v battery and pulling about 18amps max power this will give you cal: 18amp / 60 minutes = 0.300 mah a minute 2.2amp battery /0.300 mah per min = 7.333 minutes full power max !! I am of course saying you only have a 2.2a 11.1v battery but since heli is about the same size/weight asTrex 450 i shouldnt thing you wouldnt get a much bigger battery in it As i said in first post if it is only after several minutes you get the glitch then it is must likely the voltage drop of the battery Just fly it for 6 minutes Rob
-
Hi John What size batterys are you using? and does it only happen after several minutes ? All im thinking is 7 minutes is quite a long flight time have you tested your amp use and can your batterys take 7 minutes of flying !! Rob
-
For the price of another battery is it worth it !!!! Bin it ,its just not worth the risk. Look though the forums and you will see why
