  1. Sorry I just don't believe that, if you apply aileron up elevator and corresponding rudder then any aerobatic model be it biplane or monoplane worth it's salt will go into a snap roll assuming a decent setup and reasonable rates. We are talking a balls out aerobatic biplane here not a WW1 Sopwith Camel. Sorry to disagree but I've flown many "types" of Ultimate from indoor foamy up to 140cc and have never had to fly coordinated turns on any of them

Rudder can be used for flat turns be it inverted or sunny side up   Edited By Ultymate on 25/10/2017 09:57:56 Edited By Ultymate on 25/10/2017 09:58:50

  4. Could you not put one R/X battery either side of the engine box and put your ignition pack where the R/X packs are now ?
  5. Think I'd be a little concerned about the proximity of your batteries in relation to your exhaust
  6. My two for the competition     Edited By Ultymate on 17/10/2017 16:22:42
  7. I took this one way back before my hair had gone grey back in 35Mhz day, I had my camera set up on a tripod behind me. It was really difficult standing on the wing flying the model and working the remote shutter release as well
  8. Mr Ashby sir, do the photos have to be of the entrants model ie his or her favourite model or a favourite photo that they the entrant have taken of someone else's model ??
  9. Posted by Adrian Smith 1 on 14/10/2017 10:36:25: I am a bit annoyed by it, gents. EF kits are supposed to be on the upper end of quality (reflected price wise too), so I am a little underwhelmed as a result. John, I shall eyeball it today when I go down the work shop. From what I remember the Racing wing tips were completely aligned with the wing, but I will check that. Rich, I may have to do as you suggest guv. I know when this type of thing happened, many moons ago, when I built stuff from scratch, it was because a) I had the wrong trailing edge glued on or b) it was glued upside to the wing. Give that the wing here is symmetrical it shouldn't be an issue. Will report later. I've only had one EF airframe and for me a small one namely a 63" span Extra, it was good but not twice as good as other ARTF's as the price would have one believe so I don't think I would have another certainly if their current prices are still as relatively high as the were back then
  10. May be of interest to you guys. Pilot have just collaborated with Comparf on a 2.3 metre Extra 330SC. Composite fuselage with built up wings and tail feathers by Pilot. Bit pricey though at 999Euros Link
  11. OK sorry didn't read the article in full my bad, mine were both the 50cc version
  12. I had a couple of these off Tom around 2008 I think, I don't know whether this article will help you it mentions C/G 5" back from the leading edge of the wing. I seem to recall having my C/G set on the front edge of the wing tube. It's not the most scale model but very aerobatic being one of the few models I've had that I could get into a knife edge spin with no faffing about at all Edited By Ultymate on 07/10/2017 16:27:06
  13. I must admit I'm strictly a three line tank man, I like minimum connections between clunk and carburetor, there's very strong suction on Walbro style carbs and the slightest leak on a joint will have a stream of air bubbles headed towards your engine
  14. OK no probs, I'm quite a fan of Ultimates having owned several different types from a home made foamy up to a 150 cc 3W variant, here's some pictures to chew on. I've still got the big bird but it's mothballed at the moment
  15. Could the undercarriage not be turned through 180 degrees to give you the scale rake back as on the full size ? appreciate this could upset ground handling Edited By Ultymate on 04/10/2017 20:02:44
  16. The chances are if they were metal output splines on the servos that loctite had been used I have used loctite and use the heated tip of a screwdriver to loosen the said loctite. You can also get screws with an allen key head. Personally nowadays I go the belt and braces route and use the Hangar 9 arms which utilise the hold down screw and pinch bolts as well
