  1. Hi Don & David I have had this happen it seames that in the cold weather, that lipo's do not like the cold, if they are not at body temp then they go of the boil, and are way down on power I hold mine in my hand for a minit or so and all is well again.   Happy Hovering Owen.
  2. Hi Joshua   I think you have to use a computer to progam these esc's and the govenor mode is so that when you increse the pitch of the blades the rpm duse not drop, and it say at the set speed that the stick is set at.   hope this helps Owen.
  3. Hi Joshua You sound like you have got your feet fermly on the ground, and that is totaly the rite aproach with heli flying, we all need help from time to time so talking about it is very inportant in the learning curve, and as for keeping the spending under control, that is a major plus in the first place for most people, as it can be quite of putting to some one if they spend 4 or 5 hundred pound only to see it in peaces after only one flyt and may be a finel nail in the cofin be for they have begun, so good lucke and hope more people can join in the chat. Let keep hovering Owen.
  4. Hi Simon & Kevin I think this just goes to show that the good old cx, is way up to it for a good amount of fun flying, and in the rite setting and carm weather can diliver the goods I have got 2, 3, and 4 chanel cx's and all fly well out side so no wonder thay are so good to get new flyers in to the hobby.   Happy Hovering Owen.
  5. Hi all   This is so very tipical of our very crafty tax people, make sore we only get hafe the pic, and then when it all gose peare shapped they bung on a hefty fine, letts face it there are hundreds and thousands of people driving without any licenses at all in the first place, and only a few ever get stoped so most will never no they have been in breach of the law.   happy days Owen.
  6. Hi Gaz   The other thing that thay sufer from is the four little charging wires brake off, were thay go on the circit board at the end of the lipo, with some carefull surgary with a model knife, you can get to the contacts, and re solder them on, this must be dun with care so you do not short out the cells or puncher the bags.   take caire Owen.
  7. Hi all   Thanks for all your good coments, it is so good to hear other like minded folk out there, and one of my coleges at work came out with a good one to day he said, the more you spend, the more you cry when it is in a hundred bits.   Happy savings Owen.
  8. Hi Timbo   All I can say is for years I used the clip on cell holders that came with my Hitec and never have killed any servos but as I said check what is on the tin I can only go by my own findings, I rest my cass.
  9. Hi John This has all ways been one of the things that has often distroyed a perfactly good and well trimed model, so yaw idear will hopfully save a lot of models flying of the end of the radio signel, and going down big time this has happend to me more than once in the past. Save that model Owen.
  10. Hi Garry   Be four we had ni cad 4.8 volt packs we all use 4 1.5 volt batterys and this was standard so it is quite all rite, and less stated other wise, and if the volts are higher then the current sould be slitly lower to do the same job, so go on it will be fine.   good luck Owen.
  11. Hi Adrian   This is the very esance of the model building thing, your very own exspretion of a plain that you have grate esteam for, and this can only give others grate inspration to go ahead with that model to suit there needs and pocket, so keep up the good work, and hopfully the new builders amung us will all keep building from scratch alive. I am all ways looking at new inspration, this sort of prodjeckt gives me the food for thought that we all nead from time to time.   Happy building Owen.
  12. Hi all new modlers.   PLease do not get sucked in to the big pond, of if you spend a lot on a model it will make the hobby much more enjoyible, us oldies did it on a budget years ago, and it was fine if you just want to have some fun, doing a little flying for fun, do not get suct in to this spending spree, I have all ways enjoyed flying on a buget and looked for low cost ways of doing it, there is a school of people out there who are taken in by the need to spend vast amounts of money to impres or such like, do not go down this road till you have leant the basics of good old fashoned flying by the seat of you pants, and this can be dun as cheap as chips if you no what I mean, so go on spend a little enjoy a lot.   Happy Hovering Owen.
  13. Hi Erfolg   I had a 60 inch wing trainer some years back, and went of the range of the tx, and it crashed under a picnic table on the local golf course, and smashed it up, I was so desprit to get it up and running again that I built a new fusalarge out of card board and strips of garden cane, and it was totaly fine, no one at the flying field could see the diffrence an one of the chap's said could he have a fly, and could not under stand how it could have been repaired so quickly.   keep it simple keep it cheap Owen.
  14. Hi all   Sorry Timbo I was no tuned in to spec as all my Tx's are mungrals, and all so far have had instrctions to change from mode 1 to 2 if requied but I new I would put my foot in it soon or later   Happy hovering Owen.

Hi Kappie   THe Esky speed controlers are very basic, and do not have soft start on them, if you look around the net you will find that some speed controlers have this feacher as standard, and some have to be linked to USB and a computer to program them, so be cairfull to read up the speck befour you bie them, as I think even if you change the Tx it will still start with a jolt, if you do not replace the speed controler, also do make sure it has BEC on it as some do not.   happy hunting Owen.
  16. Hi Kappie   The only place I shop for parts is on Ebay, and the service from people on there is on the hole very good, and fast try the uk site and hope this is some sort of help.   Good luck Owen.
  17. Hi Peter   you can bie all most all heli's without a tx if you shop around on the net, so no problem there, and all tx's can be swaped to mode 1 or 2 in side, but as 2.4 ght is quite common now it may be worth looking at this as an oppsion just a idear.   happy hunting Owen.
  18. Hi Peter I would not go strait to eny 3d heli as they are a nightmare to fly at the best of times, start of with a 4 channel heli as this will give you a grounding into bassic control and not fritten the wits out of you, and put you of heli,s for life you may think the CX is not a good starting point but thay are, and if you have got a good bugget then go to single rotor fixed pitch, its best to do it in slow but shure steps and then you will make it in the long run, as it is a slow process and can not be rushed. Good luck Owen.
  19. Hi all   Me and my Good lady are often complaning about the so called slump, we have all ways lived in a hand to mouth life stile, so nouthing new there, but I do not drink or smoke, and if I cant have the odd bit of fun, then its time to bie a gun and shout my self in the head, as there has to be some reward for our toil, so come on we all need an out let from time to time.   Have some fun Owen.
  20. Hi David   I have had both tail motors and belt driven tail rotors, and both are prone to there difrent problems, motors burn out fairly easy, and belts need to be ajusted fairly often, but are quite reliable, but a lot of heli flyers say shaft is best as there is less to go rong, but there is more power loss with gears, and more noise comes from gears, so its down to what suits you at the end of the day.   the choice is yours Owen.
  21. Hi Ben   I think you may have a brush problem in the tail motor so yes it will need replacing sory to only be able to give you bad news.   Good luck Owen.
  22. Hi all   Crimbo has past by and arfter the dust has setaled I was left with two Silverlit MX-1 very small helicopters, with only one controler as thay would not fly at crimbo, and our grand children did not take them back to there home in Berlin, so a week ago I got them out to see what the problem was, and it turned out that on one the little fan on the tail was going the rong way, and the other fan was broken, so I sent for some more from Flying Toys and when they came I set about a repair job, I found that the body came of quite easy so I could turn the tiny wires going to the tail motor round, and re solder them back on, and all that was needed after that was a little bit of trim on the controler, to make them fly, and the thing is thay fly amazingly smooth and well, and I have been flying them each night ever since round the house my better hafe thinks I am quite mad, but who caires she works 2 till10 so I have the house to my self and love every moment.   happy hovering Owen
  23. Hi all   This is a graet thread as there is so meany diffrent plastics cardbords foams and metals all around us, crying out to be made in to somthing new. I have all ways said that I only by what it is impratical to make, and have made plains on and of over the years whitch have cost me zilch, and have been good and bad flying macheins but the fun is in the biulding as much as the flying, so keep all the parts out of that recked ready to fly job, a reuse it to make somthing new.   happy hunting for bits and bobs Owen.
  24. Hi all   I can only take my hat of to Aldi, for there no noncens prices and to how hard the staff work to keep these shores running so well. I have had so meany difrent tools over the years I have been shopping at Aldi and have had little or no coars to come plain about there store running ability and think others should take a closer look at how a real shop sould be run and how thay can then pass on the savings to us there now faithfull customers.   happy savings Owen.
  25. Hi kevin   I have fund the one thing I use a lot of is this glass strand reanforced Scotch selotape it is grate for repaires to all maner of things, and using it to reenforce the leading edge of all my heli blades stops them getting chiped and inproves the life of them no end, so look for a roll down your local diy shop, you never no when you may need it to put on that crack in a canopy, or repair a lipo or such like.   dont chuck it tape it Owen.
