  1. Finally got round to test flying my Hangar 9 P47 today, I'd been putting it off most of the summer but today was too nice to miss. The new Laser 160V only has about 30 mins on it and is already pulling 9k on the ground on a 16x8, bit overpropped I know but I needed to get it at least close to 82db, think the original 15x8 would have Howled a bit in the air! The 160 massively overpowers the p47 but you don't have to use it alll do you? It's a very smooth and easy to fly warbird, shame they don't make them anymore.
  2. I did wonder, guess that source has dried up now unfortunately
  3. Get building and blogging! it doesn't matter how simple or complicated a build might be I'm always interested to see how someone else approaches a build, never stop learning. I'm particularly interested in the Mirus, always wanted one but never got round to it, I can't find the plans available anywhere at the moment unfortunately.
  4. Interesting, I'd have thought it may be a problem, mine floats on by if its not really slowed down! It does land shorter on electric setup, I guess due to the drag of a freewheeling prop compared to a low ic idle still producing some thrust.
  5. Hi, you'll need a good low idle on the 80 I think to get get it to land unless the sig version turns out heavier than my flair version. The old 62 in mine was plenty of power, refitted the model with a 6s setup now though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH5TQFPSUqA Edited By Antony Redding on 16/06/2016 10:43:53
  6. Posted by Alan Cantwell on 30/08/2012 21:49:17: before you lot hang draw and quarter the LMA, i read on the 26th august that the event was cancelled, the front page was done by the web site boss as soon as he returned from holiday, Edited By Alan Cantwell on 30/08/2012 21:50:58 Bernard added to the forum on Sunday to try to help let people know. Alan, the HMAC webmaster managed to change the HMAC website from a caravan in a field in Norfolk also whilst on holiday, so holidays don't have to be cut short just to change a webpage.
  7. Mike, the show is a HMAC show in association with the LMA, it is at the HMAC club site and run with club money by club members, the LMA provide direct support on the flying/live side, this has always been so and gratefully received. We have no direct control of either LMA or BMFA sites so I can offer no further explaination in either case. Any info regarding the show will always be seen first on the HMAC website. Imagine if this was just a few years ago? Word spreads fast around the internet, but there will still be people that turn up on Saturday and Sunday, not everyone is connected, but we have placed ads in all local papers and with local radio stations, there is a limit to how many people we can contact unfortunately and we are all very sorry.
  8. Both the BMFA and LMA were notified of the show cancellation by email last sunday morning by Bernard Morris and also both have been contacted daily, sometimes twice daily since then by phone by Bernard to confirm the show has been cancelled and to get both national bodies to update their websites. HMAC website was update on the sunday by our webmaster who was on holiday 250 miles away from his home in a caravan with a mobile connection, so it can be done. I have added an events notice to the bmfa site but if people are checking the events calender they will still see the show listed. It is not a simple matter of moving sites, to hold the show the caa have to have seen and approved the site and layout before you get into all the problems of transporting site equipment and facilties, moving isn't really an option. For 20 years we had dry hard field to work with, unless you are involved directly I don't think many people can fully appreciate the effort and time that goes into putting on a show for the public, we start work for each coming years show in the previous october! It is not a nice feeling to know that hundreds maybe thousands of people will not get to enjoy our show, we don't take the decision lightly but having lost thousands of pounds with a late cancellation we had to cancel earlier this time to ensure HMAC members still have a viable club site for them to fly from, our club members future comes first, show a close second. I am personally extremely sorry to have had to let so many people and freinds down, but there was no other choice. Antony Redding Trade organiser and HMAC chairman
