  1. Just got back from a Christmas and New Year break in the real world, and find that Orkney is freezzinng! I have just read all the Christmas Greetings thread, and am amazed that we get so many readers and contributers from all round this globe.  And we all say one thing--- WELL DONE OUR EDITORIAL TEAM!!   YOU ARE THE TOPS!!  KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOR 2009 And this, I think, is the 100th contribution. Martyn Harvey
  2. And the very best of greetings to all who frequent this and other RCM&E threads I think it is amazing that this mag is so international in its readership and spread. Well Done Dave and Graham and all the Mag Staff. By the way, Jack, you may be lonely, but you're not alone. Best wishes to you all,   Martyn Harvey  (Flying Doctor)
  3. When my covering no longer looks like Nora Batty's Stockings, I think that will be the time to invest in a decent airbrush!!
  4. Left gasping for words, Dave!  When I am good enough at the basics of modelling and covering, I will come back to this article and think about an airbrush.   Come the Day!
  5. "Steady, Lad" as the Churchill Bulldog would say. Thanks ,Ron, It is great to get your response, and I just love writing and flying. Just flew back on one of the Islander Aircraft in 20 kt wind and fog.  Quite exciting, even for my level of flying. I knew we were home when the Scapa Distillery emerged from the mist.  ITS TRUE,  I TELL YOU!!   Martyn
  6. Hi Folks,   Over a year on from the start of this thread, I see that Dave says the Ch 6 rotator dial is difficult to centre. It definitely is, so I drilled a 2mm hole through from top to bottom, and glued a small nail in the hole. This is easy to feel and see, and gives an instant guide to where the flaps will be for any model. Set them correctly before flying, and you know where to adjust before take-off, for climb-out, for flight, and for landing. Should be easy. I find my plane wallows a lot with flaps down for landing. Fly well,    Martyn
  7. HI Folks,   Thank you so much for your comments and encouragement. If this goes on at this rate I will have to make a book out of it. Patricia has my sympathies, too, lots and lots. I will try and send in a picture of her, and you will see what a lucky chap I am. The Sunderland Gouge flaps are a problem which I need help with. I have pics and a plan I can email if you need further help in understanding my comments.  Thanks again,   Martyn
  8. Yes Please. I would really like to fly this.   Martyn
  9. Yes, Please!!!  And make sure it is windproofed for Northern Latitudes. Martyn
  10. Yes Please,   count me in,   Martyn. Sad to hear of the demise of Richard's budget above. Hope he gets to restart models soon. Martyn Harvey
  11. Thank you, Dave, for the offer of a place in this draw for a delightful Piper Cub. I look forward to a positive outcome. Best wishes, Martyn
  12. Yes, Dave, that would be wonderful. Please include me in the draw
  13. Hi David. This looks good, I remember seeing my last hurtling towards the bog, from where I retrieved a few bits. This Cessna should be better. Martyn
  14. Wonderful responses, and thank you all very much. I will get some gear sets next time I call INWOOD MODELS, and build up the servos which I want to replace, and then use them in low- effort places, or if my beautiful Wife has anything to do with it, I shall place them hurriedly in the BIN. I fully accept your point on the low cost of servos and will get a proper retract servo when I next need one! And thanks again for your prompt replies. It has give me a thought for my next letter to Big Dave Martyn
  15. I have several servos with some teeth missing. But I want to know how to turn a servo in to an electric motor, how to attach it to a receiver, and how to transmit the drive from the servo to another item such as a winding mechanism for retracts. How do I turn off the motor when it has reached its full travel, and so on.      I know there is someone out there who knows. But I don,t and I want to find out, so we can all share the good news on what to do with servos with no teeth, apart from getting a new set of teeth from the Shop, or throwing it in the bin. If the advice is -- get a decent motor drive, please tell me where, as I am a very long way from the Shop, and the shops I have spoken to don't have small electric motors. Many thanks to all you nice people,  Martyn Harvey,  Orkney
