  1. After reading an old article in one of the mags left in our club hut I couldn't help thinking I'd like to try this sound thingy stuff in my recently acquired H&M FW190 (cheers Scott !) After looking about I opted for the Bendini mini system from http://www.benedini.de/ together with a USB programming dongle and amp. A few days later the goodies arrived in a very small box and I thought some chance of getting a large sound out of this thing but oh how wrong I was .... After doing more research on the wibbly wobbly I found a very knowledgeable chap called John Ransom who advised me to speak with impact audio for some speakers. The H&M FW190 suffers like most electric warbirds from stumpy nose syndrome and Scott had loaded the cowl with a lot of lead which gave me an idea to stick the speakers in the cowl rather that in the wings, doing some quick measurements I found that I could only fit 3" speakers in the cowl but Neil at impact audio found me just the ones to fit that were the correct spec for the amp.  When the speakers arrived I couldn't help myself and had to do a dummy run, this was easier said than done as although I could fire them up no probs to get everything working how I wanted it took a little longer, the software is techie with lots of settings to play with, most of which meant nothing to me and if I'd just wanted an engine noise to play it would have been easy but easy generally doesn't figure in my nature so after a couple of ling nights the penny dropped and hey presto engine and guns ! The typically poor english weather meant she has been sat for a month in the garage but this afternoon she took to the sky, unfortunately the wind drowned the sound but its still good enough for you to get a feel for what's possible for little cash.....   The sound card (before eat shrink applied) The 3" speakers and amp (connected to the frame for cooling)   The yellow mesh sits in front of the speakers   In flight action ....
  2. Best high street retailer - Model Shop Leeds (Always great service) Best mail order supplier - Hobby City (www) Best UK distributor - Overlander Best Kit - RC Lander Hawker Hunter
  3. It's my local model shop and I have been going there since I got into the hobby 20+ years ago. It's quite funny as they only seem to employ people called Andy so next time you phone have a bit of sport. They have never let me down, the service is great and since they recruited Andy Whitehead (F3P indoor masters founder) they have gone from strength to strength.
  4. Our club chairman had a nightmare with Kong lipos at Al's. A cell was duff, he sent it back and when he chased them was told by Al that he was the cause of the problem not the battery, if you knew our club chairman you would know that he doesn't push anything, bit disappointing in this climate.
  5. I had a lot of success with the HET 2W and the MF480 on 3S the setup drew about 45A above 400w
  6. Green air Designs flog them, I've never bought anything from them but guess someone will chip in though .... fly fly hawk    James
  7. Gale force in Yorkshire, great for slope soaring cr*p for power
  8. Although its foam one of the best hand launch EDF's I've flown was the A7 Corsair from Scott at BRC. Easy to build, glass the belly and away you go ......
  9. Well the wind up North blew a bit 15-20mph but it didn't stop another great turn out for lots and lots of fun. You may read about Dave Tappin and the Dawn Patrol in the new issue of RCM&E but you'll think of him in a new light watching this .......
  10.   Got another flight with the Hunter yesterday at the BMFa Northern Area Flyin at Dishforth, it was blowing a bit but a truly ace day out, this is quickly becoming a favourite !
  11. I've been running my panther on Zippy 4S 2500's using the HET Fan and the 2W20 motor, performace is great and due to the light EDF unit balances easily.

  13. Beautiful, didn't even experiment with flaps !
  14. I flew mine for the first time yesterday from our grass strip, she weighs in at just over 4lbs and flew great, I second Scott's comment on the CG, I set it at 160mm and inverted was exciting.
  15. great to see you enjoying her Scott, I was worried when you first flew her but it like all the lander models there is always something initally that gets you but after a couple of flights they realy do grow to become favourites. looking forward to seeing you at rufforth in a couple of weeks and having the crac ....
