  1. Hi Stuart, think this is a recognised slight dimensional issue as on the plan. I am sure the guys will comment, cut the deck away locally or maybe better lower the servo hole and fill the gap with an epoxied ply block. Having recently been building mine from the mag plan I would strongly recommend you put the kettle on and go through all the pages and posts in this thread. 38 pages seems a bit of a task but it's absolutely full of pictures questions and answers and really good advice from the guys on your project. Good luck with the build!!
  2. Fantastic job Markus. Hope it files just as well as it looks . Best of luck and let us all know !!!
  3. John your build looks great. Get some good shots of the finish when covered. As to Andy... Oh dear my head aluminium spindle to the gearbox is the friction type... Good job you warned and it won't be used. Time to get the right one !!!!
  4. Great Andy thanks , so I though the 32 might be ok. As for the 52 the Asp is the one I was thinking of. Several in out club have then in planes and it's a great little engine
  5. Hi Rich E, Thanks for the advice on the engine choice. Yes I was a bit concerned the 40 4stroke might be marginal. It's a shame on the sound front but I think the 32 2s will be the better choice to start and learn about gyro flying. If all goes to plan I can then re engine with a 4s. I think I would go for a 52 if buying new as an investment. I have a 91 in a mew gull vintage model which was designed for a 70 and it's perfect. I don't use all the power but it sounds great at half throttle with real scale like performance. Thanks once again for the advice and thats the great thing about this sport your always learning from others no matter how long you have been doing it Edited By Steve Jones 2 on 18/04/2013 20:53:08
  6. HI Andy, On the Engine front I am thinking 2 options - first an old OS40 4 stroke - the sound would be in keeping with the looks... If not OK then the alternative is an OS 32 2 stroke. I notice in earlier comments ref prop size and fine pitch so maybe an 11x4", a bit like the old fun fly days . What do you think ? Also I am struggling to locate the ali strip for the U/cart - 3mm x 20mm x 500 ish...anyone any suggestions , links to sources etc pls? Edited By Steve Jones 2 on 17/04/2013 22:05:43
  7. Hi guys, some pic of my build, pretty standard but forgive me Richard I added another hinge in the head. Instead of the separate hinge pins I propose a wire through all. Gearbox is the astroflight which took some finding, from USA, but worth the trip I hope. Main pivot will be piano wire and collets. Rudder will be via closed loop Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 16/04/2013 23:21:46
  8. Richard, Andy, a trimming / advice/ bring your model In what ever stage of build would be a great idea for us all, I will even bring biscuits !!!!!! YES PLEASE
  9. Hi guys, my Panther is nearly done with the woodwork, just the blades and covering to go. Powers going to be an os40 four stroke or if that's not quiet enough an os32 two stroke. I have made 2 cowls with the engine mounts in the same place on the firewall. I read with great interest the comments on trimming and flying. 25 yrs plus of fixed wing and belie willbe put aside when it's time to try. If there is a trimming session Richard in the Midlands I would be keen to attend to learn. I'm in just south of Coventry so please could you let me know?
  10. I too tried SLEC for the spruce for the leading edge. They said they could manufacture (cut for me) but then I tried Balsa Cabin and although they do not advertise the size they did stock 6mm x 17mm (3/4" which is close enough to the 18mm specified. i have ordered....
