  1. I have just spoken to the very cordial Ali at Als Hobbies about the increases. He kindly explained that where as before Horizon were sending out ar610's with all the planes they had delivered now they have stopped (as gangster said) and Ali (and others) have to pay the proper price for them which is higher than the cost we were getting them at before. So if you find any at the low price snap them up before they are gone! Cheers, Simon
  2. Posted by gangster on 29/03/2016 10:43:47: I noticed this the other day i very much doubt very much that the established reputable traders sold fakes. That's what my thinking was, they all seemed real enough and all were in the proper packaging too. It just seems a big jump all of a sudden. I tried Orange a couple of years ago and lost a plane on dsm2 so I do not trust them now. My mate swears by Lemon and has not had any problems but I am a bit reticent about them. I have ordered a couple to try and am going to swap them over in my combat wings to free up the Spektrum rx's for my current projects. At least the wings bounce!
  3. Hi folks. Have Spektrum started gold plating their AR610 dsmx receivers? I bought around 5 or 6 at various times last year mainly from Als Hobbies but also from others and they were all around the £22.00 mark including postage. Just gone onto Als to get another and they are now nearly £38.00! That is quite a hike......... On fleabay the cheapest is now £27.00 but I have not heard of the retailer -manicmodelcollector - anybody used them? Now with such a price difference are these fakes - or are the ones i have already from Als fakes or have Spektrum just hiked their prices up? Cheers, Simon
  4. Impressed with a club mates newly built Phase 6 at the patch yesterday I thought I would have a look on e-bay...... **LINK** Some how the wing looks a tiny bit different - and it comes with free fire wood! - Might be a Jetex motor hiding in that box though.
  5. If it flies as good as it looks it is going to be stunning in the air! Top job, Simon
  6. Thanks trebor - bit too abstract for me on a Sunday morning. I think he has got some castor oil in one eye from the engine which is why he is squinting! As I always tell my students 'goggles are no good if they are  perched on your head'.... The struts were the biggest headache so far even with the jig. For a couple of bent bits of wire it took an extraordinary amount of time and head scratching to get right. I am sure when you have done a few it gets easier.... maybe! I am looking forwards to getting some covering on soon and then onto some detailing which for me is the fun bit. Cheers, Simon Edited By mightypeesh on 06/03/2016 11:16:59
  7. Sorry trebor, you've lost me on that one.... Unless the name Izaiah means 'small foam one that warms under desk lamp' .... Cheers, Simon Edited By mightypeesh on 06/03/2016 10:19:25
  8. Crumbs, she's a bright'n - if you go down in the sea the Coast Guard helicopter won't have a problem spotting her! Seriously though, looks like a good tidy build with a great finish. I always like when you take them from the workshop and outside for the first time. It's like putting them in their natural habitat and a step closer to getting in the air. I always find that no matter how big they are indoors they just shrink as soon as they hit the grass! Cheers, Simon
  9. Cheers folks. Few more bits and pieces. First made some hinges from the old spar ripped out of a PZ Spitty - I knew I kept it for a reason! Then I got distracted by Herr Pilot sitting waiting to be painted. Does not look too bad next to the original. He is cast in a silicone mold using expanding foam, and has a coat of Halfords white primer on ready for acrylic paint. I use System 3 artist type paints. To speed up painting I have made a cradle to dry him under the lamp. And finish with a coat of matt varnish. I had a wobbly hand with the brush today and my eyes are getting worse, but he should good in the cockpit. And only weighs in at just over 3 grams! Not bad at all. He will be cut down a bit when he goes into the plane. Finally today i hinged the rudder using 3 robart pin hinges recessed in to be stuck at a later date. Thats all for now folks, Cheers, Simon
