  1. Apologies to OG for my rant, did i not say its not going away and no it wasnt me at either airports i live in Scotland and like i said it dont matter how much you legislate against drones if you have an idiot on the controls or someone with malicious intent its only a matter of time before the inevitable and you dont need to be in line of site or at the perimeter of an airport with the technology thats been out there for a couple of years now.
  2. I fly drones I also fly rc planes, instead why don’t you and your club support the local drone community and offer free training with the responsibilities that go with it as suggested by the CAA packs are available on line if you had bothered to look it might also be a revenue kick starter for what I think modellers and flying clubs need there's more to this hobby and we are not getting any younger. Yes I do consider that those responsible should know better and I don’t condone it, you can legislate all you want it only takes one irresponsible person to cause mayhem I believe there was malicious intent with the last episode and it just goes to show how easy it is to cause havoc in the sky's. legislation and technology are already there it needs to be enforced to stop irresponsible flyers. Banning drones is not the answer educate, educate educate. or try flying a drone and take some photos. Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 08/01/2019 09:17:49
  3. Thanks all unfortunately i cant find the part on H/K web site so presume no longer available and you are probably right would onlyhave been a few £'s but that takes all the fun out of restoring this plane as its a trial for another project that i require to form a larger cowl for a piper cub @ 2.2mtr w/s So will try a full plug of clay with various methods of releasing agent (trial and error and beats corrie and the rest of the soaps on TV). Good job i got a 12.5kg pack of clay.
  4. Sorry plummet but no not what i was looking for My Idea of using clay was that it can be moulded into virtually any shape you want it's the 1st time i have used this material its very easy to smooth out. So back to my original question has any one used air dry clay for mouldings. would it be better to use a full plug of clay instead of trying to build it up in layers granted its only 2 layers on top of a foam base plug that im having problems with.
  5. Hi gents, ladies has anybody used air dry clay to form mouldings. Im trying to make a plug to vaccum form an engine cowl for an AT-6 Texan I have a basic plug of foam sealed with a primer then a coat of PVA to seal and act as a bond then built up with air dry clay 2 layers approx 5 mm thick overall I cant stop it from cracking any ideas.?.
  6. My Nearest model shop is a 150 mile round trip so very very rarely have I visited I'm afraid it's far easier to do tinternet shopping but even that has its down sides, having recently purchased a Seagull Super Tucano only to find on opening up the box that the item was damaged, (All due credit to my supplier hopefully we have come to a mutual agreement). As this is my 3rd Tuc from Seagull but supplied by 2 different model shops and 2 of them have been damaged on receipt im thru with buying ARTF's. I shall continue to carry on building and there again I use tinternet for materials, Why Because its easier in the long run probably not as cheap as nipping to a local M,S and would they have every thing I needed,( probably does away with impulse buying when you see something on the shelf). you think ahhh yes will have one of them etc etc. so now only go looking for what I need. Nige
  7. Very Very Nice Danny only three more to go then Truly a Master. Now the weather turned I shall try to Catch up. regards Nige.
  8. Thank you very much for your offer Simon i managed to get to WHS today In Kilmarnock and found 5 Copies on the shelf so grabbed one. Once again many thanks Simon. Regards Nige
  9. One would have thought that with it being advertised as available online they would have kept a reserve amount set to one side but that would be forward thinking as it's clearly not listed on my Hobby store !. Next step is to go online and see if WHS have any in stock.
  10. Any one else had problems with the new Model Flying Workshop Special as advertised in the last couple of months RCM&E mag it's not listed in my hobby store and after contacting them only to find out stock is depleted no mention if they are going to run off any more, a Disappointed reader.
  11. Hi Martin I note from your pics you have a cub well I've just acquired one from my brother-in-law 2.5 mtr w/s Kolt KG22 engine and in need of a little restoration and tlc, engine troubles keeps cutting out, broken undercarriage with missing springs and spring retention missing, so some lathe work to do on the suspension, cockpit upper door blown off on his last flight and not recovered so a new one to be manufactured. As the old doors where a taped hinges i will use the canopy hinges Pat put me onto last night. i will set up some pics but the Chippy will have to wait, as there still a lot more to do on that than the Cub. nige
  12. Just what I was looking for Pat they will do the trick" Hatch Hinges" it helps when you know what they're called thank you both for your response Pat and Martin. Nige.
  13. Hi can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for hinges im looking for an off set type similar to gear door hinges or cranked hinges have spent the night on ebay with not much luck I want to replace taped hinges on a cub. thanks Nige
  14. Hi recently acquired an old bird a cub and in need of some TLC and restoration, fitted with a kalt kg 22 engine. I have down loaded the operation details for starting etc but would like to find a parts list and are parts still available, in comparison with the zenoah 23 is this an identical unit I know Kalt went out of business in the early 2000's?. Engine does run but not what i would call reliable cut out twice last flight suspecting carb its my 1st gasser as they say and am already to be converted from glow with another acquisition a Volcano from Phoenix Models.just waiting for stock to come in then will be placing an order for an evo 15cc with pumped carb. Sorry got carried away there. any help on the former would be greatly appreciated. Nige.
  15. Hi Simon I have been down this road several times, even gone to the extremes of major alterations with trying to lower the tank in relation to spray bar height, different types of tank and even purchased a Clyne fuel pump not the perry pump as this will not resolve your problem with siphoning or bad starting and as to starting an inverted plane think of the hazards involved been there done it etc etc (I'm not saying it cant be done just not preferable by me) I would agree that it sounds more like a setup issue get that right then go from there, it may be that the idle mixture is leaned out to stop any of the above issues? nige
