  1. Thanks John I was looking forward to a long break off work at Easter but not so now, only got a couple of days off and its our 1st club comp next week end so im also busy preping for that. Im pleased the warmer weathers nearly here so i can get on with some serious catchup work. Nige.
  2. Which tank have you used John I was thinking of going with a slec 6oz i know ill have some slight mods to do but havent got the engine bearer's in yet. Nige
  3. The last 2 kits i have built have been ARTF's ? I say ? becouse ive always had to alter something to get things to fit. Hence why im building The DB Chipmunk basic wood pack then nobody else to blame but me, but a lot more satisfaction.
  4. Very Sad news Condolences to his wife Janet and family will be sadly missed by all, his column and videos were a great inspiration.
  5. 1st plane Tucano yes battery was a 5 cell and fully charged. AT 6 Texan yes battery was fully charged and Arial orientation as always at 2.o'clock my system was set to Auto so I'm assuming DSMX-2. light was steady on Rx when retrieved at the field and tested again for signal strength/binding. Texan now repaired and ready for test flight again i have a Futaba Rx so I'm going to try this one 1st then will switch back to Spectrum the Texan has a built in sound system so will try with /with out on both setups to see if this has any interference possibilities. Nige.
  6. Sorry onetenor valves and chrystels before my time thats why i use 2.4 on both my sets and i know the spectrum Tx is good as i use this for BNF so i dont think there are any issues there. So back to the original Q would/could the 2 different binding methods have affected the performance of the setup has anyone else made the same mistake and resulted in catastrophy. I was under the impression that once a RX was bound to your trani hey ho away you go. Nige.
  7. Joining the band wagon and similar issues my system spectrum TX- DX6i Rx-AR610. I've just lost my second plane with the above setup, two different planes and two diff setups 1st was a Seagull Super Tucano with a Sc91a Took a dive on its maiden flight during takeoff uncontrollable dive at about 6ft off the deck. I thought i had it bound correctly at the time and just put it down to P/E. 2 nd one was an electric setup Hobby King AT6 Texan flown before on a Futaba set up I Changed to Spectrum due to easier setup for flaps and mixes' etc but no mix's setup for this flight thou. I did check binding at the time of the spectrum installation and thought was ok (now thinking other wise) as same thing same place happened again end of runway 6 ft of the deck and a nose dive. After checking binding etc on the field at the time couldn't find any problems. But got the bible out tonight and checked again when checking the range check again i noticed at about 40/45 yd that i was getting an intermittent signal with a hunting noise coming from the motor and note from Instructions that there are two different ways to bind an Rx 1st with receiver battery and 2nd with the ESC battery.Sadly to say i did not do this until tonight any body else had the same issue as I'm in the process of building one of the chippies and will not risk this setup we've spent to much time and effort to see it go the same way any thoughts Guys.
  8. Have used cheap tapes from the those well known Doo-it yourself stores and will never go back to them for me it has to be Frog Tape which incedently i got from one of the above mentioned stores but remember keep the tape in its container even when placing down for replaceing sections of tape any tape will collect debris from surfaces so a clean container will save you loads of grief. I have also used Frisket tape for roundels, text etc. but will be using the frog tape to create panel lines on my chippy when i get to that stage for painting.
  9. ok Master how did we achieve this beautiful little bump please tell before i get to glass the wing ?. Nige H
  10. Hi Trebor sorry have been setting my dihedral on the chippy got my right wing set now to trace pattern onto left wing setup and set to work on that side. I haven't tried the ski's out yet been nothing but wind and rain in Irvine for the last week until tonight Snow's a snowing and im of to Inverness Friday for a long weekend so am not going to get the chance to try out the ski's. Mine have a 40mm upturn to the front im guessing the spring action with the c o g well forward should plane the ski's above the snow and not dig in to the front leading edge providing the snows soft, if its hard and compacted then i cant for see to much problems looking at commercial ski's i think some are even lower than ours. I forgot to mention the spring dia and length are 8mm dia x 40mm long i don't have a spring balance to give the pull force but its not much. as you can see of the photo its enough for the weight of the plane to force the ski's flat when on the ground but enough to lift the ski's when airborne? and im assuming that these will act like flaps also which should aid in the landing. let me know how you get on if you get up in the air before me. cheers nige.
