  1.  You're not slow are you?! At this rate It'll be flying next week! Seriously, very good workman ship .
  2. Sweet That is a very impressive model! Loving the Camel doing low inverted passes behind Edited By Ben Mullins on 15/10/2009 18:48:26
  3. Nice Idea Bruce, I hadn't thought of that. Mind you, my skills would probably make a hash of the ABS. THANKS MATT! Thats just what I needed, a picture! I can see now that I could fit the Lipo in no problem. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to get my hand in, but I can see many ways around that now, with the help of your photos. I was beginning to think I was the only one building a Beaver! Keep us updated on your progress.  Ben
  4. Electric Airsail Beaver BuildTime spent on build: 01:30Money spent on build: £84.60  Well, this lipo problem has been really bugging me, and I've come to the conclusion that 100 minds are better than one. I've drawn a quick image with all the concerning factors in there and labelled:  Click on the picture to make it bigger. Now I will explain. I cannot get the lipo in through the wing seat area as it is blocked by the ply wing mounting block and the fuselage former. I cannot make a hatch above the space for the lipo as there is a window and a couple of vital formers in the way. I cannot go in from the front as there is a firewall in the way. I can't make a hatch from below as the U/C and a permenantly glued ABS moulding is in the way. This leaves me with one option really. Make a hatch in the side. This worries me a little as a lot of the load from the firewall goes onto the sides, and making a gaping hole in the side next to the firewall will create a major weak spot. Could I beef up the area around where the hole would be with some hardwood? And if that was the way to go, how would I do it? Any other suggestions?  All input is very welcome, I've used all my spare brain power trying to work this out!  Thanks alot, Ben Edited By Ben Mullins on 12/10/2009 17:22:08
  5. OR MASSIVE! Whats on t'other side of the black hole? Nobody knows . . . (Im happy to be proved wrong!)
  6. Well, Damn them GC0E's eh! No work has been done on the Beaver, This will probably turn into a next summer project If I don't watch it! However, the plan has stayed on the table and I've been mulling things over. The electric conversion is looking un-realistic unfortunatly. Because of the way that the model is designed I can't get the battery in from the hole where the wing goes, and I can't make a hatch to get it in with out risking structural failure. Unless I think of a way to get the battery in, this could end up being powered by a .25 2st.  We'll see.
  7. Fusion? I thought that only happened in the Sun. And we couldn't replicate it on the earth. Or can we not replicate it in a controlled manner? And what will that other element be that they use? Without making my life a half life!  Can't wait to do Physics at college!
  8. Pretty accurate doodle if you ask me! Very nice Simon, What will your next problem be to solve I wonder?
  9. I go no higher than £400, im in the same position as Birdy here! Maybe I should ask for a pay rise for paper boys, inflation and all. Is there a paper round union? :D
  10. I've been doing no flying this weekend! . Dad's enforcing his 'down the patch every other weekend' rule. Whats teh bet next weekend will be horrible. . Enjoy your flying you lucky peeps!
  11. That Spit one is a special thing, out on 5th Novmember and its not a proper issue, if im not mistaken? Maybe this is one for dave to answer.
  12. Oh they did Phil! I hope I havn't offended you . I acctually fixed them and flew 'em. Well, I attempted to fly the Skyvan but that warp in the wing was just too much! But then I started getting too many models, and the parents said some of them had to go, and the Lazy Bee and Skyvan draw the short straw unfortunatly. Still got the other two though, and the kits  If I buy anymore models I think ill have to hide them then say i've had them for ages Happy fixings, Ben
  13. Wow, really nice rebuild, and really nice model! Wouldn't have thought too much nose weight would have ahd that effect, shows what I know! Talking of cruncies: This is all that could be recovered. A couple of my planes had a badish collision today, with a MALLET . I couldn't sell them at Hop farm last weekend, so took all the decent bits out and had some hammer time! Repair that! Ben
  14. Ahh, you just gotta love Hampshire sometimes. . .   Especially on days when its sunny, and you''ve been riding around on your nice new bike! Look at all those lovely smooth rolling hills to power up and down.    I might not be doing lots of steep hill climbs, but I still need to buy myself some bar ends.
  15. Sorry about the lack of updates, school work has been getting in the way. Hope to do some more some time soon.
  16.  Agreed, Halfords staff are rather poor at thier biking fiting/maintainence job. However, if you know what you are doing, then all is good, you see the bike and do all your stuff, then just hand over the money, no need to involve the staff! I have heard horror stories about halfords bikes, my dads handle bars came off and the seat post and handle bars came off my uncles bike. All within a week of buying the bike. However, my uncle still has his halfords bike and rides a 16mile round trip on it every day and often takes it to Wales for a bit of fun.  So it seems that Halfords bikes themselves are acctually allright, but the people who put them together are, generally, not!
  17. Wow, well, I can't really call the South Downs hills now that I've seen that Bogtrotters website. Most fun on a moutain bike I get is Butser Hill, fun for slope soaring, not really that exciting on a MTB. You lucky sod Terence , I wouldn't mind a free bike!  Dave, I've had one of those Moral shattering speedy overtakes happen to me before, all was equalled though when I passed one of them with a broken chain . Show offs.  Ernie, Or maybe the Albatross, some how I don't think I'd want to cycle across the channel! Its great to hear everyones cycling stories  Ben.
  18. With thanks too, An Ice cream van . Nice shot of David as well
  19. Interesting. You see rich kiddies riding to school on thier Jump bikes, not knowing how to use them , quite entertaining. I believe hats off to Alex there though, I have to say, that did acctually make me LOL. I have no intention of wearing Lycra!  Ernie, I was over in France with a mate in the summer, unfortunatly we had some rather shoddy 10 year old Raleigh bikes and no maps, so we didn't go far! Andy and Eric, I believe you are out numbered here!  Frank, picking up my new hybrid compared to my old MTB, I can certainly feel the differance. The thing must be half the weight of the MTB. Im a little disconcerted by how thin my tyres are now though, 23c at the back and 25c at the front, AAAHHHH. While riding yesterday, I noticed that my cadence is actually rather quite leisurly. Spinning at a relaxed 60rpm . Even if I try I can get no-where near 90rpm. I just realised, Mr Armstrong cycles at over double my cadence
  20. Ill be there as well. There is already a thread about it. 'Hop Farm 2009'
  21. Yes, well, everyone is different. I think my dad follows your theory as well!I am most deffiatly over the moon. Unfortunatly, its distracting me from my Beaver build, Hell I've got all winter for that!
  22. Haha! Well, I wouldn't put it past some people! 74, thats not too old. When driving to the flying field we often see a bloke who must be in his 80's giving it all he can. He's cycling along every single Sunday.

    Cycling

Hi All,  I just went and bought myself my first Road Bike and gave it a spin round the block a minute ago. WOW, those things are so fast in comparison to MTB. The bike is a Carrera Gryphon V-Spec Hybrid Performance Bike. Please don't kill me for buying from Halfords! Ill be doning my own maintainance, don't worry!   Anyone else do a bit of cycling, road or MTB?    A very happy Ben
  24. HAHA, lol Sheldon! It looks really nice, shame its not in 35mHz (don't shoot me down, please!). For me its just not viable to buy 2.4gHz, the recievers cost too much.
