  1. Im not really one for Vintage, but I like this one . Ones which acctually look a little like a real plane, not a caractature of one, I quite like. I like the looks of Jims Mercury 3 and the Ben Buckle Southerner 60. I've got me a vintage model right here which needs to be restored, problem is, I have no idea what it is. Maybe I should start a new thread .
  2. I've never been to one of my Clubs AGMs, I generally can't be bothered to sit around a british leigion hearing how some bloke doesn't like the state of the grass! I hear both sides of arguements, because our club is small (38 people, 15 of which fly on a regular basis), you sort of know everyone, and thier opinions.   Subs are a big one in our club, again because we are a small club the subs for adults are £80 and £50 for me. The general member doesn't understand how much things cost, thus argure for the price to go down, with the committee saying it needs to go up! Another favorite is the 'cow stampled the patch' complaint, in the end the committee bought an electric fence.  Now as I said, I don't go to AGMs, but I guess there must be a fair few arguements, to the extent that our current chairman now flys at a different club!  If you think about it, who really wants to get into the politics of thier hobby? Its there to be enjoyed, and as far as I can suss, being a committee member takes that enjoyment away! Ben Neutral Mullins
  3. Rain Stopped play . However, with the mighty gale behind my E-Pioneer I discovered it can go very fast
  4. I know these are not really of clouds, but I find that a bit of cloud helps to set a picture off where just a plain blue sky wouldn't do that much  No Photoshop used there. Although Im sure photoshop could improve them quite a bit. The second picture is of the tree on the left on the first picture
  5. I too would be interested in how you do it. I've got a tip for you, use CIF kitchen cleaner to clean the exterior of the engine, works a treat.
  6. You could paint it. Be careful though, don't use a solvent based paint, it'll eat away your foam. Or you could use POLY C and tissue/fibreglass. Do a search on the forum and you'll find lots of intersting things. You would of course then paint this, but it wouldn't matter whether you used solvent based or not.  Im sure you'll get many more replies
  7. Not to worry Dave Nigel Hawes contradicted himself when reviewing the VMAR P-51 Mustang. He writes about how poor the covering is, and then in the conclusion says its good quaility! I can tell you now, its not good! Have a look at my Aero Subaru thread.
  8. I found a rather nice place which could be used for slope soaring while on holiday in the Ardeche (im not the best with french spellings). Wish I had taken a glider now, lots of hills around there. Petersfield you say Eric, my flying site is a couple miles down the road. And HMS Mercury is still there, on Portsdown Hill, just under the name of DSTL blah blah blah. I cycle past it quite alot. I can see it from my school! They fly gliders off Butser Hill which is next to Petersfield, a slope for every direction of  wind! I really should go join the folk there at some point, have a go at slope soaring.
  9. EIGHT! You like refurbishing things don't you Stephen . After your treatment I bet they'll look great and be flying wonderfully. That Bipe looks interesting. Whats with the two glow plugs in the engine though?
  10. Mine came through, looking good :D. Suprised there isn't a Mag preview on the home page though. COUGH.
  11. Thanks Ultymate,  I've used Expo before on a GWS Mustang believe it or not. Thank god for low rates
  12. Thanks Steve, great help. My Set up that I have is a bit more powerful than Stephens. I have 600W on tap rather than 350W. Ill give all the moves a bash on my simulator.
  13. Always nice to take it slow sometimes. Nasa, How does the Extra handle on low rates? I've had my share of GWS warbirds but now want to get into 3D flying but am not that confident. Is the model good for a 3D trainer? Thanks, Ben
  14. You Know what Stephen, Im liking the look of this model so much I may well buy one and put my E-Pioneer stuff in it too! Be interesting to see how yours comes out.
  15. Myron, I was sailing around the St. Malo area. Got to some quite fast speeds at times . . .
  16. Back to the topic . . . .   Theres a great Statue/Sculpture of the prototype Spitfire outside Eastleigh Southampton Airport. Eastleigh was the airfield from which the Spitfire took its first flight. The Sculture looks as if its at around 90% size. Have a look here:
  17. Im back .   Ken, your comment links with quite well with mine. I've been sailing in Brittany for the last week and a half. Lots of fun! Ill have to catch up on posts now . . . .Edited By Ben Mullins on 22/07/2009 20:30:35
  18. Had this discusion a while ago with people at the field. Turns out that current or ex heli fliers use finger/thumb, while just Fixed wing fliers use thumb. Ive learnt to use just my thumb, and find it really difficult to use finger/thumb
  19. Yes, its true, an ARTF WOT 4. Have a look at this link to see what Im on about. I know that you can pay some one to build a kit one for you, but this is something completely different! If it flies like its built up cousin im sure it'll be a big seller. The price tag of £90 is very reasonable, considering that just the kit of the WOT 4 costs that much. Anyone any thoughts?   EDIT: Sorry, put it in the wrong section, move if you wish moderators Edited By Ben Mullins on 12/07/2009 11:37:17
  20. Yeh, the 787 looks nice.   However, don't have the money for either! Back to GWS it is . . . .
  21. I see 70 more quid in my pocket . If I had the money I would go for 4 fans, just for the sound, but I don't have the money!
