  1. Made some of these two years ago. Still in regular use and no, in my experience the aluminium doesn't rub off! Just make sure you clean any fuel or oil from the wings before you put hem away so the inside of the bags stays clean. All my wings are now stored and transported in bags very similar to these, although I don't go as far and handles or magnet closures.
  2. I agree. However, I'm not sure if anyone in the club can pan a video fast enough to keep it in frame! If I can get it video'd I'll post a link on here. Martyn
  3. A few photos of my latest "bonkers" build. Own design to see just how fast it would go! 56" span. Foam wing. Sheet fuselage. All glassed. J'En 56 up front. Two SC 32's on the wing. Flew great straight off the board. Speed not measured yet (only three flights so far) but it is definately quick!! Always wanted to fly a multi-engine but worried about what happens if one engine fails. This is set up so either the wing engines or the main engine can be idled independently, while throttle control is retained on the other. Or of course it can be flown on all three engines. Works a treat! Is incredibly fast and sounds fantastic on full chat!! Edited By Martyn Garrett on 21/04/2013 21:48:12 Edited By Martyn Garrett on 21/04/2013 21:49:44
  4. Looks to me like a Great Planes Super Aeromaster. One of these .... **LINK**
  5. Scotch Book tapeavailable from Amazon. It's used on the outside of the hinges. It is fairly expensive (about £8.00 for 13 metres x 38mm) but doesn't fade or crack and is VERY sticky. After a year of continuous use (several flights most weekend days, ) with a four stroke glow I've had to replace the tape on the flaps as it started to lift a bit. However ailerons are still on the original tape. The sellotape diamond tape is is much cheaper and more readily available. I got mine from WH Smiths for about £1.50 for a 50m roll. It is now called Sellotape Crystal Clear. It is very clear and very sticky but is a bit more flexible and quite a bit thinner than the book tape. Hope this helps. ps. When you put the book tape on, be very careful not to touch the sticky side or it will show fingerprints. Also, it is very easy to get air bubbles under it. Make sure you smooth it on and push the bubbles out as you go.
  6. Forgot to mention. Final all-up wieght with Saito FA62, 10 oz tank, alloy spinner etc is 99.5 oz dry. Thats 6.22 lbs. Seems as though I maybe build a little heavier than Peter. I'm sure if I tried I could have got some weight out of the cowl, and yes both the engine and tank will be heavier than Peter's model. And I did use spruce for the spars (there's a least 1/4 oz there!!)   Anway, the extra weight doesn't hurt it at all.
