  1. Posted by James40 on 29/12/2010 11:29:29: Resurrecting this thread, Richard, what colours did you go for on your repaint ? I'm going to do a similar scheme on my P-47 when I choose which one to go for, I'm currently torn between this one and PZ's latest offering.I've repainted all my Parkzone birds, my P-51 is in "Moonbeam McSwine" colours and my BF109 has a nice yellow nose and some weathering.    Hi there James. Lucky I was having a look through my old posts or wouldn't have seen this. The colours I went for were TAMIYA AS32 MEDIUM SEA GREY for underneath, TAMIYA AS31 OCEAN GREY and TAMIYA AS30 DARK GREEN 2 orHUMBROL DARK GREEN 30 for the upper surfaces. I am currently looking at the new FMS 1.4m P47 (EPO Foam). I am just waiting for the updated 4 prop version to come out in UK. Edited By Richard Lewis on 04/01/2011 13:04:45
  2. Yeh, That's what I thought. First time I've done any model painting since I was a teenager.Edited By Richard Lewis on 14/07/2010 21:07:26
  3. Hello again. Well its almost finished. Just got flap mod to do. I have ordered servo's from Hong Kong. These include a reversed servo for one side. Had a couple of problems on the way biggest being aerosol paint eating foam. Ensure you shake can well. I have modded the cockpit slightly, adding instrument panel and a seat and back shield. The pilot was painted by one of my colleagues back at camp. He paints Warcraft figures and this is the first WWII pilot he's ever painted. Fantastic for a first attempt. Decals I had made by Modellettering.co.uk. Barry did a great job even down to the pilot name on side at 5mm. I think the wing roundels may be a bit on the small side, but hey. That's me on the side, always wanted to be a fighter pilot!!  I didn't put white fuselage band on as that is exactly where the dent's from being in transit are and they would show up more in white. The faded effect happened purely by accident. Once finished I matt varnished the model. And this is what happened. Not bad really for something unplanned. Will hopefully be flying this weekend subject to the Sun God coming out to play. Edited By Richard Lewis on 14/07/2010 16:31:13
  4. James that is the scheme I am going for. Don't know why pic doesn't come up. When I attach the pic and post its there, but I guess it doesn't stay for long. strange.
  5. Help!! I have started painting the underside. I realised I was using the wrong grey for the underside, ocean grey instead of medium sea grey. The wrong colour I did with Tamiya paint (no problem) I have just sprayed on the sea grey which is Humbrol and its eating the foam. They are both acrylic, Tamiya ok Humbrol not. Any ideas before I go for the more expensive Tamiya option?
  6. I have gone for option 2 of my list of 3 in my earlier post. Can anyone help. For this scale of model what size will the roundels be for wings and fuselage?I can roughly scale the tail flash. Cheers
  7. If its for a Topflite model it will be 1/5th  1/6th scale. Way too big for this baby.Oh well.
  8. These are the schemes I am considering. Whats your thoughts?  RAF 1  RAF 2  USAF 1
  9. Hello again. Well had it out flying and am very happy. Painting starts next week. I bought a 1/12th scale pilot from Pete's Pilots on E-Bay and one of my colleagues back at camp has painted him for me. Looks fantastic. Unforunately he is too tall for the cockpit so I will have to trim him down, which I don't want to do as my mate has done a brilliant paint job. So the answer is fit a cockpit. Problem. never made a cockpit before! Does anyone know of a 1/12th p47 cockpit kit that I can purchase. Putting kits together I can do, building from nothing wouldn't have a clue.
  10. How do I use the 'link tool'?
  11. I wrote in my earlier post i was going to paint mine in RAF markings. Bit of a problem. I don't know what colours I am looking for. Attached is scheme I want to go for. Anyone got any colour tips and where to buy from? Link   Please use link tool to add liksEdited By Bruce Richards - Moderator on 05/06/2010 17:44:01
  12. Hi there. I've been looking on the RC Groups.com forum and have seen that there is also a P40 available in the States in either olive green or light brown and green camo. It also has twist  retracts. Looks really nice. I have also heard on the grapevine there is a Spitfire and an ME109 coming out. No timeline on those though. Always wanted a P40. An EPO P40 would be even better. Love flying but I always have that worry of damaging a balsa model andnot knowing how to repair. EPO and super glue. Can't beat it!!! When is it coming to UK I ask?
  13. Took mine out for its maiden on Monday. Had to dial in -25% expo to stop it from trying to flip over time I used aileron. Not happy with retract servo and so have ordered an new Hitec and servo slow. Handling after expo adjustment a lot better. Overall very happy. It will be getting a new paint job to RAF markings once I have found a pilot. Any recommendations?
  14. Does anyone know if there are any upgrades available over here. I have seen some on web sites in the USA. CNC swash plates and blade clamps etc.
  15. Hi there guys, I was at the Hop Farm show and saw the RC Lander foam jet models. Can anyone tell me who sells them over in UK. I was given a card with details but have put it somewhere safe and now can't find it. Cheers
  16. Anyone got the new Parkzone ME109?  I ordered one last week and hopefully will be here Monday. i saw it at the Nationals and decided I had to have it. I have seen on the Parkzone website that there will be a flap mod option coming out. If that is the case I wonder if there is going to be a retract option as well. It would make sense if you are going to have flaps. It would finish the model I think
  17. I saw on the Kyosho Main website in Japan that they are bringing out a 4ch pipercub minium. their release date is Mar 09. When will it be in teh UK? Anyone know? Richard
  18. Hi there, i have an Art-Tech Decathon/Cittabria. I have flown it a few times now and am not happy with the speed400 motor it has fitted. I can get it in the air but then once I start any manouvres it stuggles to stay in air. Can anyone recommend a replacement motor. I am not big into electrickery so am not sure what I am looking for. I hear brushless motors are better and that i would also need a speed controller. Would I also need to use Lipo batteries? Thanks for any help. Richard
  19. Do E-Flite do any bind'n'fly aircraft like Kyosho do with their Minium's? If no will they be?
  20. Damn, I thought so. I really like the Minium aircraft, but also like the E-Flite helicopters and so was hoping I would only need 1 transmitter. Oh well 2 transmitters it is then.
