  1. Hi Steve  Have not had chance or weather for a test flight yet.  I also have  a J3 Cub with F54S thunder tiger in it to test fly. I know..... should not fly a new airframe engine and radio gear all at the same time but got to get it done just not in wind and rain.  Live on the south coast..... thanks for the interest. Will keep you posted (lol)  although last time out I ploughed a field with my edge 540 canopy first.   To low in outside loop     oops... Kind regards Dave..
  2. Hello Steve,  Thanks for the reply.  Engine is going to be my old thunder tiger .25. At least I know that will be realible. Have noticed the thrust line is built into F1 so must be ok. Unless they had it in the jig upside down lol. Cheers DP
  3. HI all, Just wondered if the thrust line on this model is correct. Have just put one together and the enginr thrust line is at least 2 deg left. Every trainer type model I have built over many years has always had right hand thrust and also some downthrust, Just wanted to check before take off. Thanks in advance DP

  5. Hi. Thanks for the reply. If you see DB again,  tell him I liked this as a trainer so much I built 4.... Various mishaps while learning.... Still fly one with a .25 thunder tiger ic. great... Happy flying and merry xmas Regards Dave
  6. HI, Just wanted to know if anybody else thought that this kit looks very similar to the David Boddington Tyro Two of about 20 years ago.  No disrespect to the late great Ben Buckle intended. Regards Dave
  7. Hi Owen, Thanks again for the info. I did adjust the swashplate but did not anticipate the change needed for the trims. Just doing a quick adjustment..... Ah. Just had it hovering almost handsfree and the blades are still intact. That made for a lot more relaxing flight . Brilliant.. Thanks again Best regards Dave...
  8. Hi Owen, Great piece of info, brilliant thankyou. my swashplate is not level, its leaning forward. This could also be why it flys backwards fairly quickly but struggles going forward. If I could ask another quick question,,, I am braking more blades in flight , than I was when learning (still am learning). They hit each other quite a lot when doing a tight turn or there is a strong gust of wind (strong for this heli anyway) am I being to violent on the sticks? Thankyou again Owen Kind regards Dave...
  9. Cheers Birdy. Got it flying a bit better but then took the heads of the girlfriends carnations in the garden . Now I'm in trouble. Have to fly in the car park now, wish we could have a calm day for a change. Have also got an EDF jet waiting for its test flight but way to windy in the south. If it aint windy its hacking it down just cant win. BIG SIGH. Regards Dave.
  10. Thankyou both for the replies. The heli is a CML Orbiter. Last time I wrote a thread Eric you did not now this heli but its just like any other contra heli similar to v3 and v4 Llama. I was also told this was factory set but kept on crashing it. Then found out a bit of plastic housing had come unclipped from the swashplate so I did not have any control at all on the pitch of the blades and the servos were flopping about doing nothing. Is gain the same as pitch? Kind regards Dave.. P.S. the heli is flown just above head height but still needs left stick input to keep the nose facing the right direction. I fly mode 2. Rudder and yaw on left stick + throttle.
  11. Hi all, I have a contra rotating heli which turns to the right (starboard if I need to be correct) on take off. I have full left trim on the transmitter with no adjustment left. My question is this, there are two pots on the gyro/Esc unit but which one alters the yaw is it Gyro or Pitch. I guess it may be Gyro but am not sure. Hope someone can answer my question thanks.... Kind Regards Dave.
  12. Like to win this.Just bounced my edge 540 of the deck.Oops!!!
  13. Hi all, Lets try again, you never know I might get lucky this time.
  14. Hi all. I have the Art Tech Edge 540t. Flies really well very aerobatic but does tend to tip stall when speed is to low in the turn. But as Chris has said above you do have to shoehorn the battery (in this case a 3s 1300 Mah li-po) into the plastic cage in underside of fuzz. I wonder if this is a problem Art Tech should look into.... This is also a problem in there P51 Mustang !! Keep em in the air.. Dave...
  15. Thanks Kevin,  I have repaired the inner shaft now, with help from MK Models of Weymouth. Many many thanks to Matt and Kevin for supplying the spares and telling me how to fit them. Proceed as follows... Remove rotor blades (top ones only) and blade holders. Next remove rear bodyshell (one small pin and the landing skids). Turn upside down, remove battery and you will see two gear wheels. Undo two screws from the bottom gear collet and the shaft pops out. Put new one in and tighten screws on collet. The rest is just reversed. Hope this helps.. Regards Dave...
  16. Thanks Eric will have a good old search on the net. Trouble is its a new model on the market and not many people have come across it. If all else fails I'll have to go back to the model shop where I bought it. Thanks again Regards Dave...
  17. Thanks Eric. Is there anywhere online that you know of that I could get an exploded plan view of an Orbiter or similar. Thanks Dave
  18. Hello all,  Could anyone tell me how to go about changing the inner rotating shaft on my Orbiter co-axial heli please. I thought these were suppose to be for beginners to heli flight but I just cant get it to hover although I have spent ages trying to set it up. Have broken loads of blades and only had it a week. Now I have broken the top of the inner shaft that holds the flybar on. Hope someone can help...Thankyou. Regards to all Dave...
  19. Hi All,  Just to let you all know my edge 540 crashed OOps. Moral of the story, dont fly a yellow aeroplane towards a bright yellow midday sun!!!!!  You can,t see it....
  20. Thankyou  Shaun, Seems like there is quite a lot to this electric setup. What esc goes with what engine and then theres current drain and how many amps used etc etc. Then I get to all the different Lipo battery packs. Have 3 packs at the moment, all 11.1v  3cells but different Mah. 1300 and 2-1500. Have just bought a book so that may help. Catch you on the invert... Kind regards Dave...
  21. Hello all. Have come back to flying after 15 years. Its all change on the electric front. Have to say its quite a good thing as I was always getting people moan about the noise of my old I.C. motors. Have just bought an Art Tech Edge 540 T. Great fun but it does suffer aileron flutter when in high speed aerobatics and tight turns. Have noticed the aileron servo arm is loose and the pushrods look like they are made from stiff string (really thin metal rods). Anyway enough for now.. Keep em in the air.. Kind regards Dave...
  22. And I was thinking about getting an EDF jet !!!!!
