  1. I've installed FrSky hack modules into both my Futaba FF7 and FF9 Super. I've done this switchable so both TX's do 35mhz and 2.4g. The FF7 was the easiest to do as their are wires that you just solder on to where as the FF9 I had to solder on to a main board baz
  2. My oldest son is 4 in January and Im thinking of getting him his first rc car so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone would recommend a decent one. I had tried some a couple of years ago but they were terrible to steer correctly and the signal was poor but now with most things been 2.4g i'm guessing this will be much better. Looking at under £50 to start with so he can get used to it as I already own an ic car that he can progress on to. Thanks in advance Barry
  3. If your running the standard setup then yes the wing joint will be fine, theirs 3 of my club members flown these with no problems. I put an extreme motor in mine so installed two carbon rods running from one wing to the other on the underside Very easy job. Baz
  4. Have you put the servos in the wings this time Ken? Any big changes? baz
  5. Well Pushycat MK2 fly's I flew two 8 minute flights at about 7pm tonight. It went straight away from launching with just a few clicks of down trim. Flew really well considering the wind was at a constant 9mph with gusts reaching 13mph. I'll know more over the next few flights hopefully in calmer conditions. Baz
  6. Well she's finished. Hopefully get it maidened within the next few days. baz

  8. Had two 10 minute flights with my old nexus helicopter this evening and I done my first ever loop followed by another 3. Looking to go back to the strip in the morning as its going to be really nice so will get a couple of hours in before work. Baz
  9. Posted by Dai Fledermaus on 02/08/2015 15:14:52: I'd like to see this engine "working" as is claimed without a carburettor. Note the description and the price. LINK Edited By Dai Fledermaus on 02/08/2015 15:17:03 Same seller has an OS Max fp for sale at £24.50 in as good a condition looks to sell all sorts of junk. But don't forget he "ships worldwide" **LINK** Baz Edited By brfc7 on 02/08/2015 18:02:16
  10. Graham wood 3 - The battery is 1800 mah 5 cell NIMH. After 2 hours use the charger will put in about 1000 ma so it's probably discharged by less than 2/3rds. Thar seems a lot for only 2hours use. I thought most transmitters were using 200 MaH.  My futaba FF9 has an 8 cell 9.6v, 2500 mah NiMh in it. I reset the counter after every charge and then charge it after 5 hours use which generally puts back in around 1000 mah so I still have some in reserve if needs be. 11. Just looked on the Vulcan to the sky website and it is displaying at Blackpool the same day and is on their schedule for 14:33 so I'm guessing it will at least be in the later afternoon ish. Baz Edited By brfc7 on 29/07/2015 21:42:13 Edited By brfc7 on 29/07/2015 21:50:44
  12. Any idea what time the Vulcan is scheduled to display? Just i'm going to have to bring my 1 & 3 year olds so don't want to be their too early as they will probably have had enough after 2 hours. So would rather be their the time it displays. Baz Edited By brfc7 on 29/07/2015 21:14:47
  13. Managed to finally maiden my new to me trex 450seV2. Been waiting over a week as it's been so windy. I was at Blyths field for 9am and the wind was between 8-10mph which is a little on the strong side for a little heli but I wanted to do some final setting up so went for it. Put 4 lipos through it all about 6 minute flights. Managed to get all the adjustments done and flew some small figure of 8 circuits on the last lipo but it was too windy to really enjoy it. Hopefully get some nice windless evening flights in before the end of summer: Baz
  14. Not surprised this buyer wasn't happy with the supplied canopy for the trex 450 they had bought. **LINK** baz
  15. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kampa-Mains-to-12V-Adaptor/dp/B001W2Y46G   I've been using one of these for years to power my ripmax pro peak constellation charger although mine is rated at 6 amps and 72watts. I regularly charge three 2200mah 11.1v lipos in parallel which is just over the amp rating but never had a problem baz Edited By brfc7 on 28/06/2015 07:45:01
  16. Got one 12 minute flight in with my nexus heli tonight between showers Really loving flying it at the minute. Although I need to catch up with some of the other lads that fly helis in my club as need a bit of help with the tail as it just doesn't yaw as quick as I'd expect. So I'm thinking the gyro is trying to cancel out my imput of full yaw. baz
  17. Great night at blyth last night, 10-15 members present and mostly all flying including 3 students taking turns on our club trainer Personally I flew my Dave Smith Panther for one 12 minute flight which flys like it's on rails and then I concentrated on my Nexus heli. I had two 15 minute flights with it. The first was mainly hovering and small side to side movements just as a shake down due to replacing the main gear and tail servo the previous night. Then the second flight being a full circuits flight. Was great to really get her wound up along the runway, not bad for a heli that must be over 20 years old. baz
  18. Andy, I recently contacted the BMFA to see if I could go to one of their workshop days as I told them I wanted to progress to a club examiner and would then be shown exactly what is required but they told me that only current examiners who have passed the test are allowed to the workshop days Personally I think it would be benoficial to anyone who is currently working towards the club examiner test especially if their was a spare space on the day. baz

  20. Posted by brfc7 on 16/06/2015 09:05:12: And also tried my Nexus heli that for the last 10 years is brought out once every few months and works without a problem but today it decided to strip the main gear Now trying to get a replacement one without having to pay three times the original cost. baz Well managed to get a replacement main gear for my Nexus after a lot of searching, luckily a brand new in packet one had been put up on ebay £25.00 Also having a bit think of how the break happened I remembered that I was hovering at about 1 foot of the ground when all of a sudden the tail massively went sideways so I cut the throttle and she came down level but the tail blades struck the ground,, so this will have caused the damage to the gear. So on investigation I've found that my tail servo is intermittently working when you move its wire. So took servo out of body and took it apart. I found the signal wire had completely come off the circuit board So in with a new servo and all is well I'll solder the wire back on another day baz Edited By brfc7 on 23/06/2015 09:19:14
  21. Installed and back flying baz
  22. Years ago I used to go on my mountain bike putting a club 2000 in a big camping rucksack with the wing off and sticking out the top of bag, Transmitter, 500ml pop bottle of fuel to squeeze in, glow clip and rubber finger guard. This was enough to fly but their would normally be someone else their so could loan their model stand and electric starter just to make things easier. baz
  23. Great stuff I think the actual manoeuvre is simple for them as they had a long run in it's just having the balls to do it especially at 185mph baz
  24. Posted by Marc Osbourne on 19/06/2015 00:29:07: I take it you didn't buy that new one on ebay then!? I see it's now sold!? Yes it sold, To me I took my heli apart last night and on closer inspection the only problem with it was the main gear so with that in mind £25 is a reasonable cheap fix. baz
  25. No one have one lying around then??? baz
