  1. Plummet just give them a call on 01621 859711 and ask for Protect-A-Plan. They will send you their latest catalog if you ask for it with lots of goodies inside. It is well worth investing in at only £1-95, (last time I ordered some).
  2. I must agree with Andrew767, the protective sheet from Balsa cabin is an excellent product and I don't possess an adhesive that will stick to it.
  3. Apparently the early models had a U/C that bent quite easily during a heavy landing. Don't know if that applied to landing in trees or not. There does to have been a spate of problems with the very early ones but Seagull must have listened to the comments and done something about them as they seem to have a happy bunch of HR3 pilot's these days.
  4. The wing plate itself. It is only ply of a few millimeters thick at the TE end. I will get it built when the weather and finances allow.
  5. Hello Stephen hope you are doing some flying. The kit I received is identical to your own, judging by the photo's at the beginning of this post. The canopy is fixed and the wings attach via bolts on the bottom of the fuselage.  With regard to the wing fixing mod you made; did you place the triangles between the bearing plate and fuselage at the T/E end of the plate. It does look a little insubstantial in that area. As far as the U/C goes it looks quite meaty, I can't bend it, even giving it a bit of welly. I am a 7 stone weakling with a 4 stone belly mind you. I also didn't get any turkey gravy runs and bits of mince pie with mine.
  6. When I put the model together and venture out to make it stay in the air for more than a few minutes I will make sure there are no trees within several hundred yards of me. I will take on board what you say about the wing fixing plate.  Using two servo's for the elevator seems a bit extreme, I may well use a some heavy gauge wire to link them up. Or something similar I think. Anyway, I will post when I get to grips with it.   I feel really guilty winning it now Stephen.
  7. I would like to add my appreciation too, can't do without my daily forum dose. A very merry Christmas to you all and best wishes for the new year.
  8. Thank you for all your kind comments. It will be a while before I get to put it together as I have too many projects on the go as it is. It will almost certainly end up electric, (Scorpion S-4020/10 or similar), it will be something to really look forward to do.   * Roger Bird.......... ne.1 Still very chuffed dept.   * With kind permission from the Ken Anderson copyright and extortionate royalties dept. 9. Just a quick thank you to RCM&E/myHobbystore and everyone associated with the competitions. I have just taken delivery of a Harmon Rocket III and I must say my supprise at my name being pulled out of the hat, has only been exceeded by my delight on receiving it. Thank you very much.Edited By Roger Bird on 04/11/2011 14:43:45
  10. I just had another order from SLEC delivered and to my delight the balsa was of excellent quality, uniform and warp free. The grading was quite disernable too.  I had also sent an email windging about the quality of my previous order and much to my suprise they offered to replace the balsa that was not up to scratch. I am now a happy balsa basher and intend to stick with SLEC if this is their normal service.
  11. Many thanks for all your comments but to get this issue into perspective I would like to make the following comments. I have no wish to damage the reputation of any of the suppliers mentioned, I have had very good service in the past. I had no problems with the grading from SLEC, it was only that I required some straight 4" width, (exactly that width), balsa of different grades for my project. It was very difficult to find any piece that was straight and true enough to use.  I would imagine that mail order supplys are always going to be a little inferior to self selection, the suppliers are never going to know your exact requirements. Also, as the price of balsa increases it must be a problem to provide value for money, a higher cost or a lower spec product.  Anyway, the concensus seems to be that I was probably a tad unlucky and therefore I will give SLEC another go. Thank you all once again for your input. Edited By Roger Bird on 12/08/2011 15:07:56
  12. As much as I appreciate the humour fellers, I still need some glorious good wood!
  13. I order more wood than I require knowing that some of it will not be up to the job. A while ago I received some wood from The Balsa Cabin and it was poor, most of it not straight or square and the grade was questionable.  The same order more recently from SLEC was slightly better but very dissapointing to say the least. Can anyone please advise me on a reputable supplier. I don't mind paying a little more if get what I ask for.   I may have been just unlucky but I really need my confidence restoring.   Edited By Roger Bird on 11/08/2011 20:47:36
  14. After a quick peruse I think it's reasonable to say everything is fine with the August 2011 issue of RCM&E. Two plans, both with fuselage's and wings on each side and lots of good stuff inside too. You are redeemed RCM&E, thank you very much.
  15. I've followed this thread from day one and it's so nice to see a project from start to finish. You must be very pleased and I can only add my congratulations to all the others. It's a real treat to see such a great looking model fly so well.
  16. On the 7th May 2011 I received confirmation of an order for a back issue of RCM&E and a saw and on that date they took my money via paypal. I had the saw delivered but no back issue.  It was the 18th May when I reminded MyHobbyStore that I had not received my back issue. I had realised in the in the interim that I should have ordered June 2005 not June 2006 and requested the change. I had a phone call from MyHobbyStore and was asked to return any delivered magazine if it was an incorrect date.   Nothing.  Bear with me.   On the 6th June I reported that I had started a thread (Whoops!) with regard to a plan error in the current July issue of RCM&E. I had a reply that that they could not find me as a subscriber.??????? I replied with details and also reminded them that I had not received my ordered back issue.   I was then informed that they could find no record of the transaction with regard to the back issue.  What the hell is going on!! I can understand the odd mistake, we all do it, but this beyond any previous experience.
  17. I received my RCM&E this morning and as usuall pulled the plan out for a quick once over. A Founier RF-4, great, typical Peter Miller fuselage an excellent model and a straight forward build. Turn the plan over and ....... the same fuselage plan. Has anyone else had this problem?
