iawnski
hi was just wondering what you lot use to shape epp foam ,as i have just had a foam block and was wondering what would be the best and easiest way to shape it ?
Peewhit
For rough shaping try a tile sander - the flat type with holes in - but be careful as it can tear chunks out if used to hard. After that, 300 grade wet & dry used dry. Then the spackle.

ken anderson.
iawnski-the last model i have just 'built' was EPP and i found you had to be selective with the grade of sandpaper..as it came off in lump's.....i found if you rough shaped it with a sharp knife then finished with fine grade stuff-i got an acceptable finish..... EPP anderson..........ne 1.

Barrie Dav 2
Re the foam cutter. I used to cut foam wings with a little machine I made but when I moved to France I sold it. Didn't think I'd need it again - Wrong!!. Can't find a supplier of wire, even online, to make another. Anyone know of an outlet.

RonSpencerUK
Barrie That's only 0.1mm. If you need something thicker try here: http://wires.co.uk/
Barrie Dav 2
Thanks Ron. I cannot remember the gauge I used to use - 1mm? Do you use the stuff? My cutting 'machine' was about 1 metre between the two legs.
RonSpencerUK
Hi Barrie I'm going to build one in the near future. I saw on a 'how to' site that 0.25mm is a good size to use. I've just received the wire today and I wouldn't like to go any thinner.
