Ernie
Hi guys, My first forray into electrickery continues. The big powered glider is beside me as I write. One query, is that the ESC has four settings with a wee jumper that can be positioned as required 1 NiXX-BR off 2 NiXX-BR on 3 LiXX-BR off 4 LiXX-BR on So, what's this all about? ernie
Tim Mackey
To select whether you want the brake on or off with either Nickel ( nixx ) or lipo ( LIXX)
Richard Wood
Ernie, NiXX means Nickel type battery - NiCad NiMh. LiXX means Lithium type battery - Lipo, LiFe. It refers to the battery powering your motor via the ESC. BR probably means Brake - to stop the prop free-wheeling after power cut-off. Never use NiXX setting with Lipo's. Hope this helps. Romeo Whisky
However if you're using 3S LiFe rather than 3S LiPo you may wish to program for NiMh (not LiPo) as the nominal cell voltage is only 3.3V and the 3V Cut-Off for LiPo will mean a very short flight under load with LiFe. I only fly NiMh and LiFe and I use the same ESC program setting for both. Also if you're new to the hobby, it might be helpful to mention that for powered gliders with folding prop the norm is to have the brake ON, but for all other electric powered models with fixed prop, turn the brake OFF. Ernie
Hi guys, All this is just great. Sometimes I feel just a wee bit isolated in la belle Fance. Can you imagine discussing all that in french? So, merci beaucoup (woops, there I go again) ernie
