Magister modification

I've just bought a Power HD brushless outrunner  (HD3542/06) 920kv, to fit into my recently acquired Magister which is in need of TLC.   The original motor was a gearbox type and the original mount is installed but of course the new motor will not fit into that mount.    I would like to know what steps I have to take to adapt the mount to accept the new motor, or do I have to take the original mount out and replace with a commercial one?   Either way it would be appreciated if anyone who has actually carried out this modification on a Magister, would advise me !   Thanks Eric.

I'm with you now, Eric - sorry! I've no experience of the Magister but take a look at this review where the reviewer replaced the original Permax 480 with an AXI outrunner (about half way down the page).

If you have a similar setup it doesn't look too difficult. Looking at the specs of the two motors, yours is the same diameter and only 5mm longer (and is 16g lighter) than the AXI so fitting it in that bay shouldn't be a problem. You might need to fit an X-mount to the motor and then fix that to the front bulkhead.

Just my tuppence-worth!
