Ross Clarkson
Hi all, I am after an Alluminium spinner for my Yak 54.The engine is a Thunder Tigre F-130S and the recommended prop size is 14x10.Problem is, i cant find anywhere what the spinner size should be.Where do you find this info out?? Stephen Grigg
How does the spinner from the kit look Ross?I believe the diameter of the spinner is more in relation to the front of the cowl aesthetically. Can you use it as a pattern? r6dan
Aye,just measure the round front bit of the cowl, and thats your diameter.
Stephen Grigg
So the one in the kit should give Ross a fairly big clue Dan?
r6dan
Ha ha yes...Doh...that kinda went straight over the top Unless it doesn`t come with one?
Ultymate
Ross here's a picture of a full size 54, should give you some idea of what to aim for, I would think you're looking for a 2 1/2 to 3" spinner Don't go too big or you'll mask the airflow to your engine Edited By Ultymate on 29/11/2010 20:41:
Ross Clarkson
Yes guys, there is one in the kit, but i have gone an engine up in size than the recommended si i should imagine it will have to be a slightly bigger one!
Ross Clarkson
Ahhhhh, cheers Ulty.Posted that whilst you were posting.Spot on, thanks.
r6dan
I don`t see why you would need a bigger one just because the engine is a bit bigger, the one in the kit will be the correct scale for the plane.
Ross Clarkson
Yeah, fair point Dan. I was just assuming it would have to be but it clearly doesnt, thanks.
Ultymate
The deciding factor is often the size of the propeller blades ie how much you can cut the spinner to cope with a bigger prop with often deeper and wider blades
Ross Clarkson
Just for info guys, i went for: 14x10 Zinger 2 Blade Wooden Propeller and a 2.75" JP Alloy spinner. Thanks,
