richard cohen
gents, my latest model is a Cessna 337 twin boom twin engine push/pull configuration. normally i route my aerial straight out and down the lower fuselage and tension with elastic to the tail wheel to stop it dragging on the runway. Not possible with the new model coz of the windmill swinging at the back . now having read the other threads i know the aerial length shoudn't be altered so my questions are twofold. 1. if i run the aerial across and down one of the tailbooms very little (if any) will be left to exit the model.... will this cause reception problems ? ( i have never left an aerial inside the fuse'.) 2. if i was to fit a whip aerial to the fuselage could i shorten the rx aerial by the same length as the whip so overall length remains the same ? Steve W-O
Option 1 will be fine, assuming the construction is wood. Option 2 will be fine too, as long as the joints are 100% good.
Dave Towell
Option 1: Good as above, but dont forget to do range checks from all angles with power and without. Option 2 : Good as above, used them before with no issues as long as you have a good solid solder joint Option 3: Change to 2.4 but the above is all ok. richard cohen
cheers guys will probably try internal aerial first and range check. Whip aerial will be 2nd choice as it will spoil the lines of a scale build. sorry Dave but 2.4 isn't a cost effective option - too many models running on 35mhz to afford to change lots of rx's,(plus i am tight !)
