Martyn Perks
Can someone tell me... I have a Twin Star 2 lying idle at the moment which I would like to put back in the air. It used to fly on a Nicad 8.4v pack and now I have 3s Lipo packs instead. Can I reuse the speed controllers or will it all have to be binned? If so what setup would work best? Its got to be cheap as its only a spare plane ! Thanks
Richard Wood
Hi Martyn, You might be able to re-use the speed controllers if they can be configured for LiPos necessary higher cut-off voltage off around 3V per cell - 9V for a 3S. Don't run Lipos on a controller set for Nicads or the overdischarge will kill your battery! If you're using brushless motors the controller must be compatible - a brushed motor controller won't be useable. Speed controller f or brushless & Lipos Or - BRC do a complete set if you want to replace motors & esc. with a brushless setup BRC set Hope this helps.
