Allan Jordan
Hi David, that O hlsson and Rice no longer produce engines may not strictly speaking be true. I have a friend who repairs chainsaws and the like for a living, some time ago he showed me rather nice engine which was in need of attention, he had no idea of the makers name and asked if I could help. Cast into the crankcase were the letters O & R, I knew at once that this engine was from Ohlsson & Rice, it even had beam mounting lugs! the upshot of this was he was able via the net to get in touch with them and buy the required spares! Perhaps there is hope for this company after all. The O & R engines were really beasts in the late 40's and early 50's. I was the proud owner of a .60 cu. in. job that required very careful handling if I wanted to keep all my fingers. If anyone else has more info. please let us know. Regards Allan J.. Grasshopper
Just read the Jim Newman letter on the article on flaps - this is excellent stuff. As a (long time) ex-full sized glider pilot I can echo many of his points and especially the one about having separate articles for power and glider 'drivers'. Perhaps someone can persuade him to put pen to paper?

david anderson
I read in your magazine some time ago an advert from a firm in Carlisle which claimed that their sunglasses made a huge difference to model visibility against the sky. Have any of your flyers used them and how good are they? Also can you give me the name and address of the firm ?D.Anderson

Just a darn good product at a good price.Assuming you haven't already committed as your post was March 2008.Ron
Sean Murray-Smith
Pulling covering material around compound curves can be painful, but, if you play golf or know someone who plays, then an old golf glove can make the job easier and painless. Griffin Emter
Exactly how do you enter this 'all write' competition?
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
I'm a bit confused by your post Griffin.....All Write is simply the letters page in the Magazine itself.....
