Thinking about a winter project/100 incher

Recommended Posts

I started slope soaring this year and following advice on this forum I ended up buying a Wild Thing 60 which has been brilliant! Since then I have built a West Wings Orion and bought a used Middle Phase (advanced).

I'm looking for a winter project (i know.... sad!) and am thinking about a 100 incher.

So my question is what 100" kit would you recommend )bearing in mind it would be used for slope rather than thermal normally)?

Cheers

Simon

I suppose I never thought about that!

....perhaps up to £150 or so.

Currently I'm on a Spektrum DX6i transmitter. I suspect I may have to change this if I'm going into crow braking territory?

You can get crow from a 6 channel, but how many mixes do you have available on it ? It takes 6 mixes to achieve it, including having deployment on the throttle stick.

ohhh hang on how bout a 2.4 mtr EPP slope machine ? I'm working on the prototype of 1 for a New Zealand mob pretty straight forward all EPP and meets your 100" requirement ?

Sounds interesting. Why aren't there may traditional kits about?

Probably because when you get to 100" on the slope then the performance gain with a mouldie starts to outweigh the extra cost.

Not quite 100" but something like a Chris Foss Phase 6 would be a good slope soarer kit.

Actually... I have been thinking about that! Would there be much difference to the Middle Phase?

yes I have a few 133" and 157" slope machines but all are moulded carbon

Sounds expensive and probably too breakable for me!

Or something else like a Sychelle , my absolute favorite balsa build slopie and at 72" its a good size as well Plans are still available as well which makes it doable

Just Googled it but can't find anything on it?
