david shatford
I have narrowed my choice down to these two as scale Cessna trainers - working toward CMP or similarWhich is better and why?I understand Magister may be discontinued but cant find Manuf's e-mailIgnore radio side of things - simply which is more stable when flying scale speeds (slowish)
David Ashby - Moderator
We loved the Magtister David so can thoroughly recommend it - i.c. powered it flew a dream.
david shatford
thanks David for advice, unfortunately it has been disontinued by Multiplex (do you have manufs email address to confirm status?) so, that being the case i shall most likely go for the possibly less satisfactory Art-Tech Cessna
David Ashby - Moderator
There are still some around surely? It's worth finding a kit on a shelf somewhere David. The multiplex website may help www.multiplex-rc.de
david shatford
thanks david - yes factory were helpful in confirming discontinuance + 1 yr spares but no info on replacementany more suggestions for trainer toward CMpro Cessna or even better alternative to the CMP which doesnt tip stall - or better still how to stop them doing that when flying slowly - I just love their looks.. Scott La Vallee
Hi DavidI have the Art - Tech Cessna, and I really wouldnt go for it. I found it very underpowered and not the easiest of planes to fly let alone gorund take offs from concrete being next to impossible.I am just about to upgrade it with a brushless / Lipo conversion I can let you know how it goes if you have already got one.by the way sussex model centre ( www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk ) still do the Mini Mag and do magister power sets might be worth an email.Good luck
George Stokoe
Hi I have an Art-Tech 180 ,crashed it many times, but fortunately all parts are available, including decals , this makes it a great first plane, I found it under powered but thanks to an Impulse,900mah Li-Po battery which fits in the original battery bay (only just) and new ESC this plane is now an absolute pleasure even on a windy day. Take offs are easy and I had success on my first attempt. I believe you can now buy this model with a Li-po battery.Enjoy George
Jonathan Lewzey
If you can't get the magister, what about the mini-mag? Smaller version of magister with optional floats. It was new only a couple of years ago so they must still make it. Much better than the Art tech cessna although more expensive
Dave Leyland
As already quoted I also find the Art-tech cessna 180 underpowered - can anyone please give any ideas on how to upgrade this place, i.e. what motor and which Li-po to use.
