Max Trent
Sorry for all the posts but this is another problem i can not work out. The wings have built up TE`s,correct term? A 1.5mmx17mm strip is layed down fisrt, ribs on that ,then top piece bwvwled at rear goes on top to sandwich ribs. The plan shows the ribs sit on the TE apx half way but when i do a dry fit with the LE and 2 lower spars all matching plan the ribs only sit apx a quarter way on the TE. I do not know if that is enough for the TE to sit on for the correct angle. I was thinking of pulling all the parts rearwards ignoring the plan for spar placement BUT i do not know if that will cause severe probs further on. My lack of build knowlege and late hour is proberly hiding a really silly problem that will cause, which i can not see.All panela and sections would have to match i know. jeff2wings
Hi Max , you are keen and it won’t be the last late night I bet .The T/E has always been a bit of an iffy area on Flair kits IMHO but it’s not a structural load bearing part of the wing so if it fits where it touches you can get away with it , BTW you might like to have a look at my Flair Legionnaire re-build thread , may be of help to you
Max Trent
Would that be the N24/7 in your gallery? Can not see any threads?
jeff2wings
You can find it in the traditional kits forum .
Ed Darter
Hi Max, Just make sure you get as much mating face on the two TE strips by chamfering the top one as you mention. I personally wouldn't jiggle the parts to fit as it could cause issues in other areas of the build, for instance you would need to make sure it all marries up across each of the 3 wing sections. Plus moving the fus formers that the wing gets sandwiched between. If you really feel uncomfortable about it then making up a new set of ribs would take surprisingly little time using the sandwich method. This is what I did as I built my SE5a from a plan only. Shout if you don't know what the sandwich method is.... Ed
