David Ashby - Moderator
Has anyone built, flown or seen a Top Flite Sea Fury fly?I want to start a winter build and fancy one of these but would like some reassurance that it's a good un. The wing loading is 27-33oz so I hope she's not too heavy. Many thanks,David.
winchweight
Has my little seagull conversion thread tempted you? All these video files of Sea Furys at max chat, irresistable!
David Ashby - Moderator
Yes Shaun always loved em' for some reason. It's been on my mind for some time though.
winchweight
I liked mine so much, decided that I would buy another Seagull one for my son for Xmas. They are such great value for money, especially at the special Xmas price I got today!
Scott Graupmann
I have a TF Sea Fury that I build about two years ago. I think it flies really well. I used a Saito 1.00 and I'm happy with the power, although if you like them really fast you might want to use something bigger. Mine came out at 10.25 lbs covered with monokote to look like Riff Raff the Reno Racer. scott.
David Ashby - Moderator
Ah good thanks Scott - no bad habits?
Scott Graupmann
The only thing I would classify as bad, is a tendency to tip onto it's nose. I may have the wheels too toe'ed in or something. I've had some retract trouble and have not gotten back to it to figure it out. During the takeoff run, I use full up elevator for the first 5-10ft. I then quickly bring it back to more or less neutral for a scale-like run down the runway. I held the elevator to long on one run and it popped into the air after about 15-20 feet. At my airframes weight, there was no tip stall, which I would not have been surprised to see given the premature departure and low airspeed. After a finish the RCME 72" lanc and a quick Bearcat ARF, the 'Fury will be back under the knife for retract repairs. scott.
