Spikey
I'm a newbie with a background in electronics assembly among other things, and I'm intent on building myself a Pipelagger ( **LINK** ) as an introduction to RC. Once I've mastered/wrecked that, the plan is to take the RC bits and use them in my rubber-powered stick-and-tissue kitbuilds so that when needed I can limit how F my FF is. Given that I don't have an unlimited budget, and will only be flying in our local park, what transmitter should I be looking at? I really can't see me ever needing anything more than throttle, ailerons, rudder and elevator control, but whatever I get needs to be compatible with micro gear. GrahamC
If I were you... A Spektrum DX6i and some Orange receivers. The low cost of these excellent receivers at about £7 each online makes the DX6i the best budget radio in my opinion. The problem with the budget sets is that additional receivers can be pricy. (The Planet ones are about £17) You wil find DX6i's for sale second hand for reasonable money, or they can be had new for about £80. I've used one for three years and never had any problems, and have recently upgraded to a DX7s
Andy48
Spikey Before buying, can I suggest you download the manuals for each transmitter you are interested in. You will find a big difference in ease of understanding of each.

Spikey
Thanks guys. Seems I can get myself a brand new Specktrum DX5E 2.4ghz DSMX 5-channel tx for £50. Would that work with an Orange receiver and do everything I need? Sorry, I guess I should have put this in the Spektrum forum. Can a mod please remove this post?
