Painting EPO

Recommended Posts

I have come to the end of a build which uses EPO.

I used Rotring Ink to colour the model. There are two issues, the first is that the adhesion is not as good as some paints I have used. The second is that Rotring inks are no longer available, which is a great pity as they were fabulous inks, but not great on EPO, so it would seem.

I decided to have a look at Fred Aldus site, as the company/retailer is relatively local, plus has a fabulous range of stock.

I was primarily interested in sprayable Acrylics (normally called Airbrush paints), when I came across these. Has any one had any experience of the product? I normally avoid oil paints due to there slow drying times but do wonder.

There is also another range of Acrylics that interest me, due to the vibrant colour and low cost, anyone tried these?

I have sprayed sample pots, although I have found that the pigment can be a little coarse and heavy, yet not always. I found that B&Q own modern colours the best, yet a major brand name rather coarse and possibly bulked out with something other than pigment.

Any experiences that can be shared?
