bouncebounce crunch Posted May 30, 2013 Share Posted May 30, 2013 Finally got some shed time today, after many months, (my poor Cub, she been lonely)so had a go at this. Will this brass in brass sort of scale work? this is my first mock up attempt, bolts are brass m1. a little toe in to help my slow reflexes. I hope this works, not been on the scales as yet. any feedback very welcome. i have bashed and thrown the soldered parts around a bit, just to see if it will hold, and all seems well so far. I have brass with next diameter down inserted 1cm each end and soldered, piano wire is the other metal for cross bracing and the axle. alloy fixings. this may only last as a static but a good learning experience all the same, and i will still make the plan version for flying. bbc. Bob Cotsford Posted May 30, 2013 Share Posted May 30, 2013 I built a similar fully working U/C for my 1/6th Jungmeister, on that I used brass end fittings on piano wire radius arms the first time around, and guess what? The brass pivots failed over a half dozen landings with the 3mm bolts pulling through the holes, even with two thicknesses of brass tube.
