Robin Kearney
Hi, I'm not sure if anybody has ever asked for this but is there any chance the developers could add a feature to restrict a search to a specific thread. I'm finding that I know something is in a thread, but in some cases there are hundreds of postings and finding it again is next to impossible without reviewing every page of posts. r. Chris Bott - Moderator
Hi Rob Try using google's advanced search features. For example if you type the following into google: matador site:modelflying.co.uk/forums Then it will return results about matador from right accross the forum. NOTE: don't put a space after the colon. Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 02/07/2013 15:39:
Robin Kearney
Aha, smart idea Chris. I'll use that in future if the search box doesnt get me what I want. But in this instance (wanted to know the capacity of battery people were using in the tucano) it worked a treat 'tucano mah site....' returns the info in the top hit. Top marks Google and thanks for pointing it out Chris. r.
Pete B
Following on from Chris's suggestion, if you use Firefox, there is an add-on described here which makes a site search so much easier Pete
Steve Houghton
Thanks to Chris and Pete B for the tips. Could this thread be made a sticky, please? It's essential information for those of us with failing memories who recall reading something but haven't a clue where it was! P.S I couldn't even remember which thread this information was in ! Chris Bott - Moderator
I have other stuff to do, but will now ponder whether this should be in the Forum user guides section..
Robin Kearney
Following on from Chris' suggestion, I found you can create a custom google search box which only searches within a single site. I've created a page here which is locked to modelflying.co.uk, all it does is saves you typing site:.... etc.
