Paul Hartley
Have just upgraded my PC from XP to windows 8.1 as I was getting fed up with how long it took to do anything. Have tried to reinstall my Reality Craft RC planemaster sim to find that it wont load despite it working perfectly on my old machine. Having e mailed reality craft it appears that non of their sims work on windows 8 or 8.1. Looks like I have a redundant copy of the software and the controller, and no option but to go to a more expensive sim some time in the future. Just thought I would let people know about the incompatability in case they were thinking of upgrading as well
ken anderson.
hello Paul-can you not run the Sim in compatibility mode? .....windows is supposed to allow you to run old stuff (like the forum here) in C/Mode....you have to tell it which program to run.....worth a try... ken Anderson ne..1 .....IT/not dept.. David Tweddle
Posted by Paul Hartley on 07/01/2014 13:24:55: Have just upgraded my PC from XP to windows 8.1 Thanks for that Paul personally I can't stand Windows 8. So why not just partition the HD and reinstall XP Paul. Then you can run both systems and still use the FS. Or better still Linux if it runs on that...David
Paul Hartley
Thanks guys for the advice. Problem is it wont even load the programme in any mode so unfortunately its a non starter and getting into partitioning the drive and running 2 operating systems is a step beyond what I wanted to do (and possibly beyond my computer skills). Just wanted to warn others before they decide to upgrade
GrumpyGnome
If you copy everything from CD to your hard drive and install it from there, it seems to work. Got both PlaneMaster and FlightMaster running on my W8.1 laptop.... Give it a go - nothing to lose. GG
Paul Hartley
Thanks GG Tried that but it still wont install. keeps telling me there is some language file missing, which it never did on the old operating system. I am assuming it means on the planemaster files and not the PC as everything else works fine.
