Louden Brett
Hi Could someone please tell me which issue of RCME had the free plans for the 62" Spitfire? I have all the issues for 2007 and I remember it was included in the wrong issue. I want to get on with it for my winter build and I'm tearing my hair out trying to find the plans Thanks
John Laverick
Think I've got an unused set somewhere, I normally buy two so I can build on one plan and consult the other. might even have the issue, Will have a look after work and let you know this afternoon
David Ashby - Moderator
It wasn't a free plan but the build articles were in the June and July 2007 issues. Plan is available here. Tony designed a 46" Spit, plans for which were in the 2006 Special issue and a 72" Mk.5, plans for this were in the 2010 Special Issue. Mike Smith
Has there been a free plan for an electric spit or is there one on the horizon?
David Ashby - Moderator
Not bespoke electric Spits from memory Michael and nothing I'm aware of although converting a Nijhuis design is distinctly possible as others have done.
Mike Smith
Thanks David... I've just been looking at the 2006 special issue online and tempted to order a back copy to get the plan.
Louden Brett
Thanks for the replies! Now I know why I can't find the plans I'll order them and the canopy, hope the shipping to Japan is affordable!
Louden Brett
WOW! £33.48 postage!!! Think I'm going to put this project on hold. I'll be back in the UK in the summer and order them then.
GrahamC
Louden... It might be worth pricing it up from Tony's own web page. MHS postage is to my mind expensive, and you may find Tony's more reasonable. You will also find the build article on his site here. Michael... Look out for an update of my build log in the not too distant future, as I'm planning to electrify my 62 inch Spit.
Louden Brett
Hi The shipping for the plan is £4.99 which is sensible. They want £28.99 to ship the canopy!!! Thanks I just sent an email to quote the shipping cost from Tony's site.
Lorenz Mueller
The 62" Spit was however included as a free plan in the Model Aeroplane Plans Collection Special issued in 2009. Basically a collection of Nijhuis build articles, great read. Lorenz
Wilco Wingco
Searched hi and low for the 2006 special issue for the plan. Even advertised on the BMFA site with no luck. If anybody has a copy I can borrow and get copied I would willingly pay postage?.
eflightray
Have you checked on ebay ?, there are loads of RCM&E magazines for sale on there. What size was the 2006 Spitfire ?. I have the 2010 mag and plans for the 70" (72" ) , span Spit. I used it to build a Depron version for electric power. Ray.
