Rob Jones 2
HI, I have just fitted a small HK BL motor, fully enclosed in the front of a Lanyu built-up E-Fair sailplane. After fitting it, I realised it is a neat job, but I have made no provision for venting it.I intend to use the motor just briefly, to get to height to look for thermals.Do you think it will overheat, or will i get away with if? john stones 1 - Moderator
Quite a few moulded gliders at our club Rob, they fly as you intend too and have no probs. John
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I agree with John. Especially as you will only run intermittently I can't see the motor being too troubled by thermal effects. The same might not be true for your ESC - which in most installations is more critical. But provided you've spec'ed it with a reasonable headroom that shouldn't be a problem either. BEB
