Adrian Smith 1
I noted last week that Wing Commander R W Foster DFC AE passed away last week. I read his book called Tally Ho! which documented his experiences in flying Hurricanes during the Battle of Britain and then latterly sent out to Australia and featured in the defence of Darwin. An enthralling read and a more self effacing guy you would not find I am sure. Furthermore and coincidently, author Peter Vacher, in 1982 found Hurricane R4118, one of the ones WC Foster flew in WWII, rotting away in India. He got it home 20 years later and it was restored and first flew again in 2005. WC Foster was reunited with her along with two other BoB pilots and is the subject of a book which I am now reading. Such a coincidence and both are great stories. If you like that sort of thing I recommend you read both tomes.

LPP
I also thank you. I've just got hold of the books on my kindle, well into Tally Ho right now. Also got The Last British Dambuster by George Johnny Johnson. Here he is at Coningsby with Vera
Prop Nut
Sad to hear another old warrior has gone to his Valhalla. What a great generation of men and women they were. I look forward to reading 'Tally Ho!' and learning more of his experiences.
