David Tayler
Please can anyone advise me of an easy way to transfer the markings for formers and wing ribs from a plan onto depron. I have used card templates but unless making several identical models this seems rather labour intensive. Thank you David
pete taylor
Have the plan copied at your local copy shop then cut out the various parts, leaving a small excess all round then paste these onto your Depron sheet using 3M Spraymount. It's a simple job then to cut through the paper patterns and Depron You can then either remove the paper, or leave it in situ. Have fun, Pete
Dave Hopkin
If you have a decent 3 in 1 printer, you may be able to scan the relevant parts of the plan then reprint them, though be aware that not all printers will reproduce it exactly as scanned, so try one and compare it to the plan to see how much it changes, if it does change it, revert to Petes option tomorrow morning! David Tayler
Tony, could you tell me how you use tracing paper? I can understand how you get an image onto the tracing paper, but how do you then get the image onto the depron? Thanks, David
Dave Hopkin
Cut the tracing out, spray glue mount on the depron scalpel round it.....

eflightray
Also the pin method. You place the plan over the Depron and use a pin to prick through the paper into the foam, then 'joint the dots' with a pen. You only need to prick through at strategic places, also a set of plastic curves and/or a flexy curve can be handy. You end up with a slightly perforated plan, but it's still in one piece. Simon Chaddock
If you are working in 2mm Depron you can actually use it directly as tracing paper if you hold it against a (bright) window with the plan underneath. It helps if you cut the Depron roughly to size first. With practise it can be quite accurate and is quick. It does not work so well on 3mm and of course the Depron has to white!
