Takes pinned and pinned blades, has a flexible drive and sanding table, light and blower all for just over £70. It was £130. Wish I was in the market for a new one myself.... Foxfan Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Got a Burgess bndsaw from the Sunday Market for 12 quid. 13 for a set of five different blades off ebay, the only one of which I've yet used being the first one I put on and that's cut 2" Ureol, ply, hardwoods, plastics, aluminium sheet and even 1mm brass! Malcolm Fisher Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 My fretsaw doesn't use any electricity as it is an ancient Hobbies treadle version. Until quite recently it had the original £5 13s and 6d price tag attached. I use normal fretsaw, piercing saw or junior hacksaw blades depending on what I'm cutting. I had to replace the original leather drive belt a couple of years ago and chose a modern alternative. It's a Hobbies Gem, has it's original "Pitman" (a piece of hardwood with two holes in it) and my father-in-law's father electrified it Heaven knows when. It still works well. My son has a Titan scroll saw and produces the most intricate scroll saw designs in various woods. They are ideal for cutting formers for model aircraft, amongst much else.
