AlbertBallVC
Does anyone out there known where I may be able to download or buy a plan of the RM Diamond 52" aerobatic job by Tony Wright from the 70's.

AlbertBallVC
Could well be KC, I don't have the plan number and it doesn't give a description but I'll try and find out. Many thanks to you for the info and head start.
David Foley
Just checked an old RM catalog and the number is RM 209 by Tony Wright. It was published in March 1979
AlbertBallVC
Belated thanks David, I've only just seen your reply. I work away and don't always have access to the internet. Once again thanks for the info.

kc
That's useful Martyn....... what a neat design and a handy size. Why is the design not better known? There are very few 40 size aerobatic plans around - Jetta is a quite similar one but 55inch span. Martyn K
I built a Flair Meteor 40 recently - with SC46. It goes in the car in one piece, is easily visible and quite fast. I agree - there should be far more of them around. I am working on a (piped) 40 version of the Hanno Prettner Mystic at the moment. Hopefully will make a kit for it through LaserCraft when done. Wasaforumite
Martyn, many thanks for posting this article. The explanation of the method of building the wing is is the best I've seen. I suppose that rather than using 1 inch deep pieces of thick (and these days expensive) balsa one could, at least with the leading edge, have a false leading edge of hard 1/8 balsa and then attach a strip of 3/8 balsa leading edge much narrower than 1 inch to complete once the wing is all glued up. I'm about to start building a Tweedy Bird, a smaller version of the Dirty Bird and the plans look very similar. The construction notes for the Diamond will certainly be a help. The TB is for 400 watt electric power. I've had a lot of help from David Oxilia in Montreal in sorting out plans and ribs etc.
Hangar 9 nut
Put me down for one of those Martin !
Martyn K
Will do.. Its a nice size - will need to be built very light though. Got some ideas for using a bit of carbon in the wing for spars. Its a lovely looking aeroplane. M
