Gavin D
I have aquired an Enya 60 mk3 from a club mate it came with a P&R silencer has anyone any experiance of these.I intend to fit it in a similar era plane probably a Kingpin. If any one has an original silencer & bracket to sell it would make it even better. Gav
David Davis
P&R Silencers didn't silence very much Gav. I improved mine by stuffing glass fibre insulation between the inner and outer tubes. Fine engines Enyas! Edited By David Davis on 19/12/2016 16:38:
Bob Cotsford
I found the P&R sapped a lot of power while not doing much silencing. My Enya is using a silencer from a SuperTigre S61 with a bent steel strap. The bolt spacing on the ST silencer just clears the Enya 60BB-III cylinder. Mine hauls a Marabu aerobatic model around nicely and gets under our 80dBa limit. The Enya is a lovely, long lasting motor, I must have been running mine for 30 years now and I got it second-hand! The original cast silencer was more a way of pointing the exhaust backwards than quieting the exhaust as was the way of things back then. Gavin D
Thanks for replying David and Bob I agree completely with you about Enya engines didn't even need to replace the piston ring just new bearings. It looks as though I'll have to look for a better silencer especially if the P&R reduces the power. Gav
David Davis
Just Engines offer a number of silencers, including add-on silencers and BCM strap-on silencers, which could suit your engine.
Gavin D
Thanks David I've ordered a silencer for a 60X from Enya for which I'll make an adaptor. I have seen a mk3 engine with the crankcase drilled to take a 60X silencer no room for error there. Gav
