zz
I will ask here first. Just researching an upcoming project, being a Freewing Mosquito. Looking for a finish with plenty of colour I decided on DK 333, HS-F, 109 Sqn. The issue is, I have seen this aircraft depicted in Dark Green/ Dark Earth over Black and also Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey over black. Does anyone know which is correct, or are both correct ? I can't find an answer. Was heading to the field today, but a Total Fire Ban has been declared, which means no model flying. 2nd ban this week. Colin Carpenter
Kooka. See if you can get hold of a copy of the Mossie Bible - Mosquito by Sharp & Bowyer. Both schemes look ok at a quick glance with the colours changing late 1942 . Wish I had room in the shed ! My favourite aircraft since I was a boy ! Robin Colbourne
Mosquitos subassemblies were painted quite early in production, certainly before final assembly, so it is likely that the camouflaged portions were whatever the factory standard was at the time. Here are wings at the Hatfield factory in 1943 (by which time DK333 was already in service). **LINK** For the definitive answer an email to the Mosquito museum could be the best bet. Either of these two should be able to point you in the right direction: Bob Glasby – [email protected] Keith Picton - Archive enquiries [email protected] **LINK**
