So called " Driving aids" on new cars , help or hinderence ?
Colin Carpenter replied to Engine Doctor's topic in Chit-chat
When my wifeโs in the passenger seat she offers lots of driving aids. Especially when driving through gaps. This requires massive shouts and screams !๐๐๐ I always tell her - room for a tank !๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏColin -
My S1 came with a dedicated charging lead in the foam box. Would a pic help ?

Thumbs, Pinch, Hybrid, Trays, Straps ?
Colin Carpenter replied to Nigel Heather's topic in All Things Model Flying
Using Spekkie DX9 ,NX8 , third and little finger under tx . Thumb and first finger on stick and second finger able to reach switches. I set switches above sticks to down for usual positions and rest fingers on them ! Canโt honestly say I notice the tx weight ! Itโs what u r used to I expect! Colin -
Thumbs, Pinch, Hybrid, Trays, Straps ?
Colin Carpenter replied to Nigel Heather's topic in All Things Model Flying
74 now and started pinch sticks in 83 when learning on helis. Used thumbs on boats when racing ic and electric boats. Right thumb only did all the work. Left thumb on /off ๐๐ Never used a strap or tray ! Tried tray mid 80s but too cumbersome. Only a few use pinch at fixed wing club. I find aerobatics much smoother with pinch. Springs set strong ! A weird flyaway this morning High winger take off perfectly normal . Left hand circuit in a clear sky and l/h turn to bring back over patch when โ๏ธjust disappeared to both of us at exactly the same time ?? Had no further sight of it ! Search of long grass for huge distance was unsuccessful. Camera drone pilot offered assistance and it was found about 10 times normal distance away virtually unscathed. Itโs got some red on it but ??? Weโre booked into Specsavers Monday ๐๐๐Wasnโt radio. Colin -

Excellent work ! How long to print please ? -
Just discovered that he passed away in May. As CO of 801 Sqd on Invincible during the Falklands he was instrumental in showing just how superb the Harrier really was ! Air superiority saved many lives ! Argentinians called the Harrier the Black Death. Sir Sydney would have been justifiably proud. RIP ! Colin

Trim fully down perhaps??

Spring is here again - who's been flying?
Colin Carpenter replied to GrumpyGnome's topic in Flying Field Reports and Chat
First time out at patch since October with 3 others. Long winter. Gave four buddy box lessons to new member on his Riot. Definite improvement on nos 3-4 when he started l:h circuits. Doesnโt like r:h. ! Blue Riot lost against clouds when he got too far away , and my vision not the best at that distance ๐ฑ๐ฑ. Colin -

Been out 4 times this year. Only 2 frosts. Normally get out in frosts 3 times a week in Jan-Feb. Rain never stops. Still no end in sight. Field might be dry by May perhaps ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐คBeen in RC since 1969 and never known it so bad ๐ฑ๐ฑColin -
Beginner with broken heli - help please
Colin Carpenter replied to Rob Manser's topic in Helicopters
Yes - get a manual online. U Tube has masses of assistance. Agree with finding an experienced flyer to assist. It is possible to teach yourself but it will be expensive! I tought myself on Morleyโs in the 80s but it was a long process! Colin -
Just picked up an NX8 from a club member giving up. Almost new. Own a DX9 and DX6. Cannot in all honesty see any real difference worth shouting about. I pinch the sticks and my fingers catch on the switches. Donโt on other two sets. Canโt see why tho ???? The 9 is an early Mk1 and the NX is just insurance really. Colin
